what is reccomended??

am guessing a bulb swap isn't sufficient, xenon conversion??? hid??

Would inmagine you will get lots of opinions from differant people but from my experiance i would go Bi-xenon retro fit. When i first got my classic i had the standard lights and bulbs. First thing i did was upgrade the bulbs to PIAA ones which did make an improvment but only slight. Next step was to swap the lamps for crystal clears this again made a small difference but not a lot. I then went down the hid kit route this vastly improved the light output but the beam pattern was all over the place. Even though the beam pattern was non existent the car still passed an mot and i never got any flash's from other road users but thought that there must be a way to get the scattered light onto the road and that way is to do a retro fit using some bi-xenon projectors from another car. I followed Darms fitting guide and sourced the parts from ebay. This is the best way to get good lights in a classic.

None of it cheap, but you pays your money..............

If MAIN BEAM is the issue, get some decent driving lights.

Check out a few threads on here, Darms is one who's done it, and recently, someone was offering to help with sourcing parts.

There is at least one "how to...." thread in existence. If I didn't already have Morettes, which are unsuitable for a retro fit on a classic, I'd have a go myself.

Ok as said i got most of the bits from ebay but here goes.

2 x Mercedes E-class bi xenon headlights £60 (from ebay)

1 x Pair of crystal clear impreza headlights (£120 if bought new or about £50 off here)

1 x Sheet of carbon fibre 1mm (£8 off ebay)

1 x Sheet of 1mm aluminium (£10 from B&Q)

2 x Waste pipe end caps (£12 from Screwfix direct)

Then about another £35 in wire, JB Weld, sand paper, paint, relays but you may already have some of the bits above.

I already had some crystal headlights so in total mine cost me around £110. I used Darms fitting guide which is really good. Just take your time and double check all your measurments.
