The FOG lights, as supplied have a wide, flat beam, which only illuminates about 30 feet in front of the car, and is meant to penetrate UNDER fog to show the road surface.
DRIVING lights have a flat topped beam, but much more throw, illuminating up to half a mile in standard form.
FOG lights are usually wired so as to be able to be SWITCHED on if the car's lights are on.
DRIVING lights MUST be wired, BY LAW, so that they will go OFF if dip beam is selected.
