http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.e...meters.php#cts

Third item down: do yourself a favour and buy one.

Croc clip on end to earth, sharp point pierces insulation to show a live. Find one you THINK might be live for lights, operate lights and hey-presto. It works.

MUCH better than colour guessing off here.

Wires behind radio, Hazard light switch, cig lighters etc etc etc.

That tester also available from carshops, for about £4.

deffo worth having rather than relying on what colour it should be, least this way you'll know for sure

Me too. Thought orange/yellow was the norm for most cars illumination wires.

I just checked the wiring diagram, there is not supposed to be a purple wire at the fog switch, nor anywhere else in the fog circuit. Get yourself a multimeter or circuit tester, otherwise when you wire into the wrong wire and blow your fuses or worse, relays that are well hidden, you will be kicking yourself.
