buy a spare and shove it in the oven like when you detango the fronts, see what happens.

Oh I see they all tend to go that way. Once the bulbs are out they're not sealed IIRC. Remove all the bulbs and holders and bring indoors to dry out. Refit the holders when your happy but put a bit of interference grease around the rubber before you turn to lock in.

You got Hawkeye lights atm ?

One of mine was damp inside, I removed it, placed it overnight in the airing cupboard and put one or two little bags of silica gel inside, removing them the next day.

Not afaik. They SEEM to be welded plastic.

Why do you want them split? Damp probs?

My damp problem kept coming back on my o/s classic rear light.

I eventually bit the bullet, removed it, and had a GOOD look at it.
It had an indentation in the top that LOOKED OK, not right through, but I was suspicious, :suspiciou:so I filled it with acrylic sealant, and while I was at it, did everywhere else that even LOOKED like it might lead to the interior.

Then I dried it out using bits of paper towel held in a twist of mains wiring wire, you can bend it to get at most of the light, if you do it right you can SEE it wicking the moisture out of the bottom of each light area

Once THAT was done, I popped it in a warm place, (in my case, in full sunshine in France), for a few hours, bulb holes upwards, of course.

Now think about it..........IF it's letting water in, and it's NOT a cracked lens, where's it coming in? Got to be across the top or down the rear.

The first you just stopped.

The second needs new sealant all round, so scrape off all the old from light AND car, (blunt scraper and plenty of white spirit), and reseal using this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAFAX-ID...item45fbd521bf also available at caravan dealers, but usually dearer than the above. It's a NON-SETTING mastic. DO NOT use silicone or any form of car sealant or glue!

Reassemble and you should be OK.

I want to split them to tint the inside bottom portion black like WRX lights.

I will be re-sealing my rear lights as I've got a new pair coming and I was a bit unsure what to use. I'll give that stuff a bash.

Cheers again Alc
