Yet another Horn question
Hi!
Just bought a 95MY WRX saloon, import, and trying to work my way through the small little niggles.
One of whichis the horn not working. Has a Nardi wheel, pulled off the centre cap and all connections seem ok. Have tried a multimeter across the spade connections at the horn but getting nothing there. Checked the fuse in the drivers kick panel - ok.
Now, I've read that there is a relay somewhere up behind the dash. When I press the horn button I don't get any clicking so I guess the relay may be the cause of the problem.
Can someone point me in the rough area of the relay? Is it within the plastic shroud around the steering column, or will it be behind the plastic panel further down (in line with your shins if you get what I mean!)
I just don't want to go taking everything to bits as I can never seem to get that area around the column to line up again lol, plus the only chance I get to do anything in the light is on my 30 minute lunch!
Cheers

There are two or three relays high up under the dash, attached to the front bulhead, driver's side. They can be SEEN, or FELT, but it's VERY hard to do both at once unless you are a contortionist dwarf.
One of them is the flasher relay. You could set the flashers going and feel which one this is.
Then, if there are TWO more, it's 50/50. The relay will be a standard 4-pin on/off, about £4 from a car place/HellFrauds.

Thanks my man. My usual trick is lay down the back of the drivers seat, with feet in the back of the car, on my back and head wedged down by the pedals. Haha
Shame I've got a fat head, sometimes can't get out past the steering wheel lol

Just removed the panel below the wheel, found my alarm unit which may help in working out a problem with that, but still no joy in finding the relays.
Just wondering if you had any tips on what to look out for. Would the relays be to the door side of the steering wheel, or the centre console side?

Ok, I've found the flasher relay! It's behind the panel to the left of my left leg, near enough inline with the stereo and ashtray. Can only see the flasher relay though, clipped to one of the metal dash support legs.

Found it. Completely different place to flasher relay!
If anyone needs to know, it was connected behind the fusebox in the drivers side footwell. Take off the large panel in line with your shins and you'll get to it a lot easier. Look at the black fusebox, and behind that there is a cream box. Behind that is a metal bar with the relay attached. Has three wires. One green and white, one red and green, the other blue and black.
I hope that's the right one anyway, and that it's later models with 4 pins as mine has 3. Just took the red cap off and wire inside is snapped
Cheers Alcazar

Only found them in Yankee land I used to work at the Subaru dealer, but refuse to give them any of my money as they were bandits lol.
Luckily I sourced one from a guy on here who is breaking his impreza. All paid for, now just waiting for it to come
Hopefully be fitting my new coolant temp sensor tomorrow and hope it stops my wonky idling
