Hello guys, anyone know if there is a difference between WRX & STI rear light bayonets? Have bought STI rear lights for my 93 saloon but my original bulb holders don't fit properly and the bulbs just fall out all the time. Perhaps they where changed at a certain year across all models? if so what year was that? i know its a bit of an obscure question but MOT is due next week and I binned the original lights :-(

I haven't been very clear in my description buddy, the original bulbs and holders fitted fine in the wrx lights. I have used the same bulbs and holders in the sti lights and the bulbs fit perfectly, problem is the receptors on the sti lights must be different because the bulb holders no longer turn and click in as far as they did and they fall out when you hit a bump. I have sort of wedged them in with the flap of carpet that covers the rear of the lamp but ideally I need to rectify this with bulb holders that fit properly. Thing is there is no way of knowing which holders to buy because they all look the same, need to narrow it down to a certain year/type.

They are different I believe.
At least on a Dutch car, as I know for a fact the fog light and (been 5 years since fitting mine)the brake light bulb do not fit perfectly as standard, but it could be done with some filing and grinding.
I had the STI harness/bulb holders as well, and spliced them into my car's stock wiring, to save the hassle of grinding.
