Smile Finaly got round to painting my Inter cooler..!

Inter cooler was not looking its best and letting the engine bay down, Fed up of polishing the aluminium inter cooler so I have decided to paint it

After some research on here I decided to paint it, firstly cleaned with anti-grime and degreaser, rubbed down with some super fine grit wet & dry paper, put on 2 thin coats of etch primer followed by 2 thin coats of Halfords aluminium paint, had to cut a stencil for the STI emblem to finish the job off nicely.

Before shots

During painting

Some after shots

I have to say it looks so much better..

Well mint!

You can buy those stencils off ebay for about £7 from a guy based here in Wigan if anyone doesn't fancy producing their own.

Just lightly rubbed down all the aluminium except the fins, just bought etch primer & Aluminium paint from Halfords, i will take a picture of the paint cans tonight for you..

I made the stencil myself, I used a clear piece of plastic (poly pocket) to trace the original STI emblem, put some masking tape down on some ply, then put the clear plastic on top of that and cut it out with a Stanley knife, peeled up the masking tape and transferred it to the intercooler, it was a little bit fiddly but it saved me £7 

Here you go..
