My day with a Ex works fiesta WRC car
Hi Guys,
thought I would share some photos from Friday when I won a ride in team Coffeys WRC car. It was also the opportunity I needed to dust the Subaru off and give her a run out (bought a house in June so did have the spare money to get the car back on the road until now)
I was interested to compare my 460bhp striped out subaru vs a real WRC, on paper it similar weight and a good 160ish power less than the road car so I expected a similar feel of speed.
Well i got strapped in and the first thing you really notice is the heat, dam that cars warm inside massive respect to these guys on long stages. You sit very low surrounded by carbon however I was surprised that visibility was still good. ok we set off slowly out of the car park onto the stage and he hit the power...... dam that thing just picks up and goes, it pulls but unlike a car the acceleration doesn't build its just always there, we then he the brakes and it scrubbed speed like nothing i have ever felt, snap goes the handbrake and back on the power. as soon as its straightened up its firing towards the next corner.
we completed the first lap and he says ok its time to put it in stage mode..... 2nd corner in we spin on a wet section which we both found hilarious. Hats off to Graham Coffey, even on a PR event he was trying his hardest to give us a proper experience!!! a experience I will never forget! by far the fastest car I have ever been in, racing car figures are a different world from road cars!!
300 mile round trip, it would have been rude not to make the most of oulton Park
