Forged hatch STI
After being on this forum for a fair few years thought I would share the thread to track progress of my hatch. All be it slow progress. This is my 2nd Impreza, previously owned a Bug STi.
My plans were to keep the car relatively standard but they soon changed. Had the car a couple of months and decided to take the car to Scoobyclinic for a map. All went fine until the end of the session when the head gasket decided to let go.
From then after a couple of months of pondering I decided to go all in and get a forged CDB engine built. I’m now saving for a new turbo and ancillaries. Kev has recommended the SC42 billet +. I’m not particularly chasing numbers but hoping for something that will go like a stabbed rat!
A friend of mine owns a detailing company so let him work his magic on it, it really needed it!
I also picked up some Rotas because I really don’t like the standard 330s wheels. Everybody seems to have rotas but hey, I really like them and it’s actually my 2nd set!
Engine
CDB
Mahle pistons
Manley Turbo Tuff rods
Kings bearings
ARP studs
RCM headgaskets
Airpump delete
Cobra turbo back exhaust
ECUtek map
Exterior
Carbon bumper vents
Tail light overlays
Rota force wheels
FInally a pic of my old Bug that I really miss! Would be really cool if the owner was on here!

Funny i went from a bugeye STI to a 330s too. (FR tdi Leon for a year in between but lets not talk about that).
i also said i was leaving it standard , I also ignored myself and got it mapped and it blew up (pistons) , i also got Rota wheels the same as yours (but gold)
i like the 330s wheels , they just aren't wide enough. A set of spacers helps.

I've set my odometer to count up the miles since it was forged and was advised to give it an oil change every 4K. I've just reached 4K and bought oil and a filter and then just realised 2K of those was running in so i've only done 2K since the last one. Oh well, it's there for next time DOH!
I noticed the car had massive under steer and started tracking the road, a quick inspection when changing the wheels pointed out that the lower control arm bushes were shot so I also ordered a Perrin PSRS bush kit for it.
Also a few close up pics of when my friend detailed it for me.

I was sold on the extras but most importantly the seats!
You'll have to let me know what its like! Kev told me to go for the SC42 billet plus, he said it makes the same or more power than the SC46 but quicker spool! I wanted the new shape but couldn't stretch the budget enough, saying that though, I probably could have with factoring my new engine in ect....
Haha, there's probably more 2.5's with forged engines than standard these days I bet! Epic wheel choice btw

My rotas had 15mm all round which sat perfect. The 330s wheels are a bit of a bollox as they are completly flat on the back so 25mm is required. But 25 is too wide on the front so 20mm fit but require the OEM studs to have 3mm chopped off.
oh and my rear arches are rolled

Received my ALK kit to replace the worn lower control arm bushes. Had to change to the Superpro variant because the Perrin ones has been discontinued. Looking forward to getting these on, Car feels like driving a jelly at the mo.

I’ve just been enjoying the Car recently and haven’t done much to it apart from add a carbon cover to hide the pulleys and alternator. I plan on giving the engine bay a decent clean soon!

Brakes were due changing so I opted for some Godspeed J hooks and performance friction pads, so far they seem much better than what was on the Car previous.
I’ve also just done an oil and filter change, I’ve noticed a very small oil leak coming from a banjo bolt on one the heads. As soon as I can get some time off I’m going to take it to Scoobyclinic to sort as it looks a right pain to get to led down on my back. It’s coming from the bolt with the blue hose in the picture.

The car definitely turns in quicker now but the old ones they replaced were shot !
I'm not sure of the part number sorry, I cant find the invoice but if you give Scoobyclinic a call they can sort it for you!

Beautiful car! I have one in exactly the same colour (changed from Blob Sti recently), wasn't sure initially but they do look mean in this dark grey. Do you mind me asking if you did the rear light red overlays recently, if so, where did you get them from?

They were already on the car when I bought them so I’m not sure sorry!
The Car is actually black with a green and blue pearl but you don’t really see it until it’s in the sun.

Gave the car a clean, finished it off with a coat of ceramic wax. It hasn’t moved in so long now. This covid stuff needs to go away so I can enjoy it again!
removed the mud flaps yesterday, I wasn’t too keen on them, one was split and the amount of crap that gets stuck behind them is unreal!
I was falling out of love with it and not using it but decided to treat it to some new wheels. A set I’ve wanted for years, they should be here next week.

Yeah i walk past mine every morning also now when taking the dog out for its walk - its time will come though!! ive been just tidying up wee bits here n there on it while ive got the time!
re mudflaps - the OE sti items are the only decent fitting ones as they are moulded to fit snug into the inner arches to prevent the crap getting stuck behind them!
what wheels did you go for?

Picked up some Revolution Milleniums, fancied a set for years, way back when I had a bug. Just hoping they fit 🙈
What jobs have you been up to?

What colour revolutions? @CharlySkunkWeed had them on his in a deep bronze colour and looked well.
Few pics I snapped there showing my dirty flaps lol they are a thin hard type plastic. I put the prodrive decals on them myself.

I spotted this picture on the Hatch group on FB!
I’d wanted these wheels for so long but on a Bug I had a few years ago, but originally was unsure if they would suit the newer hatch styling. It was your car that changed my mind! Looks awesome in the bronze!!

I need to do mine also, started to go cloudy at the top! I need to do something with the holes left from the mud flaps now. I kept the original clips so may just push them back in.
Wheels are gunmetal, not sure how it will suit it but looks a very close colour to the standard wheels so hopefully all will be okay!
