Hi,
Well seen as its saturday i thought it was time for a new mod... and i thought i would tint my rear lights.... i started off thinking of doing them all red.... so bought some red tint spray and started to spray them... however in my usual 'not thinking things through mode' i found out that my indicators flash red...oops..!! (see first pic, plan a)....
so i went and bought some black tint spray which would still enable the indicators to flash orange.... and because ive only tinted the bottom of the rear cluster the reflecors are still retained making them legal..... plan (b)...!!
What do you think...?? im pretty pleased....
plan (a)
plan (b)
some more....!!
You can do this mod for about £15, £10 for the black tint and £3 for some clear laquer..

Hi,
I did use clear laquer it gives them more of a shine....and seals everything so its wash proof e.t.c...
I also masked off the reverse lights to keep everything above board/legal..!
I used the same standard bulbs too.... and yes they still flash orange..!!

Just a quick question. Did you spray the outside of the lights or take them apart and spray inside?
Was thinkin of doing this but if I have to take the lights apart it's a bit more work.
Looks realy good btw.

Hi,
If you look at the first pics, i just sprayed the outside of the lights its a lot easier this way.....
I put another coat of tint on today because when i got it out the garage and the sun shone on the lights you could still see the orange.... so put a few coats on em....

i also have carried out this mod to my 97 wagon but have also tinted the reverse lamps as they are not a legal requirment . (they are not mot testable).i agree a top cheap but effective mod.

It is legal as long as you can still see the orange in the indicator lights....
I have some front and side indicators that ive tinted but not using anymore as ive got clear ones.... these would look good on a black car or any for that matter see the pic bellow and if anyone wants to buy them make me an offer i dont want alot for them..!!
