D6ale - Where did you find that out about the brake upgrade meaning you'd have to change suspension items etc? Can't think why that'd be the case. Perhaps your best bet is to ask at a dealer or in (Wheels Tyres &) Brakes forum on here. I'd be interested in your findings as I've got to agree they're not much use!
Cheeseboy - Looking good, glad to know there are a few of us proud of our N/A Scoobs on here. Why have you got that grille? I've never been able to work out which models had that one, it seems almost random if an early GL had your type or my type which is the same as the turbos.
DrEvil - That looks the biz.

Hi there,
I'm just enquiring for my parents, who may wish to buy a Subaru Impreza Estate non-turbo (Standard Car). Does anybody know of any good pictures, or have any of their own please?
Also, is there anywhere to buy a WRX decal which could go onto the back?
Thank you,
Regards,
-Elliot

i dont wanna p!ss on your bonfire, but why buy a WRX sticker when it hasnt got all the spoilers etc, and is most obviously not. Slightly different story if it is made up to look like a WRX with spoilers etc, but otherwise what is the point?
I saw a 5door GL the other day with TURBO on the back, in some £1 sticker from somewhere like Halfords. Laugh, i sure did!
Not being arsey, just trying to point this out.
The one above is a sport, has different bumpers + small spoilers on back.
Here's a crap quality pic:

i'm in a similar situation. I have a 1.6 sport hey i'm only 20, i know it's not the real thing but it's all i can afford at the moment, thing is i want to enchance it a bit - not so much with the looks at the moment, although that would be good. My main thing is the brakes. drums on the back small discs on the front trying to stop a car that weighs relitavly the same as a wrx. i would like to convert to wrx gear, but i have told i cant without changing major transmission and suspension items.
i was wondering if anyone on here could clear this up for me, and tell me what parts if any i would need to change.

Sorry not a brilliant pic. Can take some decent ones when I'm home at the weekend if you want specific angles etc.
MY95 1.6GL AWD. I hope to WRXify it (save the bonnet stuff, and badges ) in the summer, student loan a bit stretched at the moment as is
I think the 1.8 has a fair bit more go, the 2.0 (115bhp common between GL and Sport) certainly does as I was a named driver on my mum's straight after passing my test .
£3k might not get the best of examples, though they have dropped in price a fair bit recently. Think you can afford to be picky as there are always plenty on Autotrader, including some Turbo lookalikes.
I'll try to remember to check back here in case you want to ask questions about it or want more pics.
Ben

Hi Ben,
Thank you for your picture.
Your's looks like a very nice example.
I'm not buying one for myself, but my parents want to buy one, and they have asked me to enqire.
Is there a possibility that you could take a picture of the back of the car please? I would be very thankful.
Also, they are getting the estate for the dogs. They want more room, so I've told them to buy a Subaru Impreza, but a non-turbo model.
Would you be able to take a picture of the boot space for me please?
Thank you for your time,
Regards,
-Elliot

Elliot, as you said nice things about my car here's a few more pics for you. If you'd like higher res I can email them on to you, but have compressed them to save the download time of the post.
The car was wet so looks a bit odd after compression of the pics, but you get the idea.
DBM in the background is my mum's MY98 2.0GL, the same on the outside apart from mark 2 headlights and bonnet, bumper and grill.
Boot space as requested, coke cans were closest thing to hand to use as a size reference. I get all of my drum kit into the boot (without the rear seats down), so it's not bad at all.
Hope that's helpful. Good luck finding a nice one for your parents.

Scoobyster,
i bought the car from town end garage, then discovored the brakes were a bit poor so thought i would upgrade, i asked them about it and they said that they thought the hubs were different to wrx ones. to hold the bigger brakes. therefore the suspension could fit differently and the drive shafts could be bigger. If the shafts were bigger they wouldnt fit in the diff. and that would have to be changed, along with the prop.
But i have also been told that the awd system is the same as on a wrx.
Anyways i went to a place called jap innovations on friday and there looking in to it for me, as they think it can be done. waiting for them to get back to me. I'll let you know what i find, but i was wondering if anyone on here knew of anything?? surely someone must have some knowledge of what is possible

Hi Ben,
Thank you for the pictures! Thanks for taking the time.
I think there's plenty enough space there for which my parents would like.
Thanks for the pictures of the boot. It sounds great if you can fit all of your drum kit in.
Your mum's MY98 looks great aswell just from the picture.
Both of your cars look very nice.
Thank you,
Regards,
-Elliot
