Fitted some of the offical Subaru mudlfaps to my STi7 yesterday. Took an age to do the job, but the finished product looks cool

No offence meant. Everyone has different tastes, but.... I was wanting some of these for my new STi 8, but looking at your pictures I think I wont bother.

You might change your mind when you start seeing the stone chips up the side of the door panels cupraman, (as have been appearing on my sti7). Personally I think they make the car look a lot "meaner", especially from the rear. But as you say, each to their own. Some people actually prefer the look of the sti8 to the sti 7. can't understand it myself

Tim, the camera I used for all the shots (apart from the ones of my old scooby)is a Fuji FinePix 6900Zoom digicam. Had it a couple of years now and am really pleased with it...

They look alright to me Iain, i've organised some to be fitted at first service when i found out how thin and soft jap car paints are. why is it you never find the bad points about cars until youv'e got em?

What heights have you fitted them at as i've heard there are different settings and if removed say during summer and put back on in winter would they leave any unsightly holes?

Hi Mark

There are two settings for the flaps, low and high. On my car I set the front flaps to high, and the rear flaps to low. (The fronts on the low setting were really to low for practical use. Even on the high setting, they're and a few centimetres above the ground).

As for removing them, I wouldn't recommend it. To fit the flaps you have to drill a couple of holes in the wheel arch of the car (front and rear). If you removed them, you'd end up with holes the wet could get in (which is why I used copious amounts of underseal when I fitted mine - just to make sure).

Sure Tim. I'll get the camera out tonight (as long as it's not too dark when I get home) and post some pics...

A mate has just had them fitted in black - will try to see if he's got pics to help people choose. After all, when you're spending this sort of money

I think both sets look good, but I wouldn't be forming a queue given the dealer's prices!

Can't make my mind up if they're OTT but I wouldn't pay the silly prices charged by Subaru.

If anyones looking for a set contact 'Megabusa' who makes equally good rally mudflaps for more realistic prices! complete with s/steel fixings. This is what makes Scoobynet so good!!

Unfortunately, megabusa posted a while ago that he wasn't making any more, so the official route is the only way to go....
