After a 2 1/2 month break. Our Westi finally breaks cover a better nicer car. God I wish we could have made Croft today - would have been soooooo much fun
A lot of time and and effort have gone into this work - we've worked bloody hard - craig maybe more so - lets hope its worth it.

Cheers folks.
John - pedals feel 'loads' better - plus it goes like the clappers now - far more go in the first 4 gears now the ignitionn retardation has been removed.
We still have the AP brakes pulling over to the left for some reason. Had to replace the rear pads too as one of the backing plates was very bent and the material had separated from it. Any ideas on the brakes john ???
You'll have to pop over for a drive some time m8. I think it will be even more devastating now. Weighs 369kg without the body shell (that was from the corner scales at Tollbar).

Catflap - always had twins - I think its easier to get brake bias accurate - plus is a backup if one of the sets of brake lines fail.

I'll have a think about the brakes pulling Ian. It could be a few things from a bad set of pads to uneven presure getting to the pistons either side, you could even have a sticking piston in one of the calipers. First thing i would do is replace the pads with a new set.
Just drop me a mail with some times that suit you for me to pop over and i'll be happy to come take a look and see what we can see.

that’s just silly weight
Flip the pads over first, probably the easiest thing to check, if you have a tool for pushing pistons back in give them a quick clean up with brake cleaner and push them all they way in, swap pads, and let the pedal push the piston back out.
It happened to me on my old brake set up, this was the advice given to me from people on the wscc, it seemed to free up a suspected piston, but didn’t result in the pulling to diminish, it turned out that it was just the pads/disks bedding in (it took about 1 month of fast road driving to bed them in, i noticed the pull first to the left for a few weeks, then moved to the right for a few weeks, then balanced itself out - Hi spec told me this may happen)

What Ian has missed out, is that I now have at least 4 million carbon splinters in my hands from doing the front box section
What we've done since it's been off the road....
Removed std pedals, bulkhead mounted masters cylinders etc, pedal mounting points and replaced with all in one pedal box, integrated master cylinders, reposition and strengthened pedal mounting points.
Removed ally front box section and replaced with custom carbon fibre 6 piece box section, with widened footwell.
Removed all existing brake lines and replaced with aeroquip with alloy fittings.
News seats and mounting points.
Gear linkage removed and replaced with direct mount carbon and alloy jobbie
Oil feed pipes replaced with aeroquip (does sweet fa but looks so )
Modified aeroquip scavenge pick up pipes for the dry sump
Gear indicator fitted running directly off the GPS sensor complete with TRE and derestrict mod
Modified uprights fitted to reduce bumpsteer and roll angle
Twin plate rear wing fitted with new carbon fibre end plates
Venturi replaced with new improved version - already charred from a little flameout
Carbon air filter mount - does nothing bit how cool is it
Repositioned air temp sensors to side pod
Repositioned fuel lines, fuel pressure reg etc.
Think that's it.

Oh -
forgot to mention this John
Gear Indicator
New gear shift mechanism - about 1cm max movement to select a gear with no play at all

the scary thing is Craigs list is just a part of what the car has been through. I picked up on the fact you had the gear linkage and indicator from your website Ian, 2 very good changes, it was always a bit tricky trying to remember what gear you were in for fast downchanges under braking.
Why dont you guys bring it to elvington on sunday? £35 for the day. Its the test day for the TOTB2, so there will be a 1/4 mile, 1.2 mile top speed and handling course to use. It would be a good oportunity for a shakedown without spending too much and without concerns of running with other cars as all 3 are run against the clock individually. You could also use the drag runs for bedding the brakes in and trying those out.
I'll be there with my STi trying to find the best setup for the handling track.
