(Didn't know whether to put this in Member Gallery, Technical or what.... so I put it here.... sorry
)
We all know how unpractical the knock-link box is, even though it is arguably one of the most important add-ons you can have on a modified Impreza.
As I wasn't happy with the location of mine, I decided to do something about it. I had a word with a friend of mine, who took possession of my KL for a while, and performed the modification in styling, more or less to the work of my requirements.
Here are some photos of the finished article:
The normal look as we all know it (...or is it?)

The newly-installed multi-plug

The new satellite LED's
![](http://www.burratha.com/images/subaru/steve/knocklink/DSC00742.JPE)
Plugging in...
![](http://www.burratha.com/images/subaru/steve/knocklink/DSC00744.JPE)
All connected in and ready to go

Now all I have to do is get it installed in the car. I intend to mount the smaller box on the bottom lip of the dash, on the lower left, of my MY99.
If anyone else wants their knock link modifying like this, then he says he more than happy to help out (for a nominal fee, of course
)
I'll post some more pics as and when I get it actually in the car.

Part list:-
length of 6 core cable
Ps2 keyboard plug (I recycled a old keyboard for wire and plug)
ps2 keyboard socket
LED clips to fit led's (I recycled the knocklink ones)
Plastic box to suit
Small strip of veroboard (Optional but neater)
Then find a local geek to solder it all for you, not a big job, 10 minutes at the most.

I would be very interested in a price as I can't be bothered with the DIY bit.
Thanks

BuRR,
Whats the score then. Is this going to be real deal ?
How would this move forward ?
Do we send our Knocklinks to your guy (along with a cheque) and he mods them and sends them back ?
Or does he send the kit to us to do ?
Cheers !

I sent my knock link, at it came back modified. tbh - I think you'd be better arranging things directly with him, as I don't know how busy he is.

Well, TBH I am very busy

But, yes, if you want to drop me a PM then I will have a chat with you about what you require (box on the dash, mounted in the dash, mounted in the rev-counter or speedo etc) and we'll arrange dates.
Doing these PROPERLY (as opposed to 'knocking' (har har) them out quickly) is fairly time consuming, so it's more than a weekends turn around. I can fit them into your dash / speedo etc, but you'll either have to come to me (Coventry) or pay my petrol, cos you may have noticed, a scoob isn't the cheapest car to trawl up and down the country in :P
I'm pretty flexible and can do almost anything with one of these: Square LEDs, triangle ones, smaller (3mm) ones, bigger ones (10mm) different colours (blue, yellow, green, orange, red, bright red, blue, white) you name it.
I mounted Chrome's in his A-Pillar (where you CAN'T miss it
) and I have put others in gauge pods.
