Dear God, no wonder the cage looked so low when it came into service on the trailer. I think Phil is lucky to have walked away from that one. Well done to whoever fabricated the cage and installed it for Prodrive! although it has deformed more than I'd have expected it to, but I suppose it depends on which point took the brunt of the impact and energy transfer.

2 Very lucky guys

Get the latest version of Windows Media Player (9 I think), that'll play it just fine...

Rich - he did hit a solid concrete block at about 80-100mph!!!!

He took 5th gear just as he came over the crest, about 100mph then...

The co-driver was very lucky.

Solberg has had a few big crashes recently, I hope this is his last one now for a while...

I am quite suprised he did not try and avoid the tree, he left the road and about 1.4 seconds later saw the said tree (only going off his verbal reactions, but impact was about 2.8 seconds after he noticed it, lots of time to try something.

I think the problem was that he had zero grip on the wet grass..... he just carried on sliding.............

I was amazed at how much metal goes into a roll cage on my Prodrive tour, and how long it takes to weld it all in, now I know why
