Question Blobeye 'blacked' headlight mod?

I've been meaning to do this for a while now

...bit of a rigmorale 'breaking' into the lights!

but I have to say that I'm fairly pleased with the results

would prolly look better on a silver or black car

just hope the bu55ers don't leak now

What y'all think? any good or not

Jon

A tad over simplified perhaps but, here goes...

1,do this....http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...ighlight=tango....except remove the grille as well.

2,but,while the two halves are seperated.
remove the plastic chrome reflecter surround.

3,rub the chrome paint off with some scotch brite(takes about 5 mins, literally)

4,wash off the dust and grease, then dry thoroughly

5,Then spray with some plastic primer or plastisicer

6,allow that to dry, then finish with a couple of coats of Satin Black spray paint

7,re-assemble the lights as per Talizmans instructions in the link...et voila

Jon

That does look good. I'd allways thought of doing this on my black STi, but never got around to it. I think I would have sprayed the insides in the same Black as the body of the car though, as opposed to matt black.

I'm surprised they haven't leaked up till now, the amount of bloody times I had them out, and seperated to try and get a good seal on them after de-tango-ing them!

Anyroad, it has to be said, I am well impressed with the mods you have given the car.... I wouldn;t expect any less!

All the better for when I buy her back from you!

I beg to differ, but perhaps that's just personal taste.

That scooby looks mean!! Goes really well with the carbon splitter
Do you think it would look as good on a red blob? Hmm... Something to think about...

I'm liking that a LOT!!!

I had a set like that on my last car

http://www.forum.golfgti.co.uk/galle...11126&pos=-844

Would like to do something similar to current car, including de-tango.

Just have to get over the mental barrier of pulling the headlights apart!!!

Looking good, I've de-tangoed mine as well but I am wondering if removing the chrome will make the lights less bright, due to less reflection?

George W Bush...I gave it a good jet washing yesterday and no leaks or condensation thus far
(I did add copious amounts of clear silicone to the light joints b4 re-sealing them tho)

New to Scoob...I think the bulbs are available in Scoobyshop?..The place where I got mine no longer does them

Boyakasha....no loss of illumination from the lights as far as I can tell, oncoming cars are still occasionally 'flashing me'...serves 'em right for driving on the wrong side of the road over here

and as a footnote,If anyone *is* considering doing the same.

Its one of those 'cheaper' mods that that really can make quite an effective difference to the front of your cars appearance....if you are prepared to TAKE YOUR TIME and put the effort in,that is

My cr@ppy pics really don't do it any justice at all...good luck

Jon

You can get a similar effect by fitting the carbon effect protectors although I reckon the "proper" job looks a lot better. As mentioned, it would look really good on my black 03

Why not paint them the same colour as the car, so a WR blue scooby would have WR blue headlights bits
