Would be worth it whilst it's off, it would help reduce under bonnet temps
and also increase the spool up time as it helps keep the heat in the pipe and increases gas velocity.

ahh i dont want to hear stuff like that .i changed the mid section a couple of weeks ago and thought as i had half the system off would take it from turbo back ,off and as i lucky enough to have a mate who is a tig welder get him to fill all internal welds and grind smooth.dont fancy taking it all off again ,but does it help in all truth fullness to wrap from down pipe back ??

thanks taylor
does any one reckon my smoothing internals on exhaust help, all though wrapping does a little what does it help other than spool up .was it worth the bother is it ??

Apart from increasing spool up rate (again, by a small amount) wrapping helps to keep under bonnet temps down. Less heatsoak = cooler charge = more power. Think about how much punchier the motor feels on a cold night compared to the summer.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Wrapping is one of those things that you might as well do whilst your upipe/downpipe/headers are off the car.
If you regularly tracked/dragged/hillclimbed the car it may become more of a priority.

Thanks for the link Woolzy.
Wrapping the down pipe will help in two areas as James has said.
Hotter gas, just like liquids, flows better.
More importantly probably is that under bonnet temperatures will be reduced.
Same goes for wrapping the turbo.
I work on the basis that "Many a mickle maks a mukle" so lots of little bits might add up to x bhp and make the car nicer to drive/safer, engine integrity wise/faster.
If anybody wants turbo blankets please e-mail me.
There are lots of gains to be had from thermal management IMHO. Keeping the hot bits hot and the cold bits cold is always a good strategy.
