Default Easter in the I.O.M

Had a great time over Easter in the gorgeous I.O.M. Stayed at the Hilton in Douglas with 6 subarus, 3 porches, 1 evo and a vw camper van . We were met off the boat by Richard, SIDC IOM organiser, who showed us all a great time, and made us very welcome.
Here are some shots of the best bits of our stay:

On top of the mountain part of the TT circuit.

The SMACS lads, in thier new t-shirts, pose in Castletown harbour.

All 4 of our cars lined up on the harbour wall

If you've never been to the island, I can highly recommend it, and don't forget the sidc go there in August for 6 days of fun!

Video of one of the runs up the mountain here: http://www.scoobysmacs.co.uk/Videos/...in%20short.wmv 21.6mb wmv file

My sister spotted the WR1. She txt me to say she had seen a WR1 with english plates.

There's another WR1 owner over there called Steve. Met up with him last couple of times I went for a holiday.

Can't wait to take mine back in the summer!

Cheers

Anders

Gorgeous Island isn't it Anders? Didn't see any more WR1's, although we did meet with the island SIDC.

I grew up there. Fantastic scenery and great roads which I can drive with my eyes closed

The mountain road is a nice road, but all the single track country lanes at 3am can't be beaten!

When my Aunt first saw my car, she said one of her shop customers had the same, so she gave me his address. Really sound guy, who's had most of of the special editions over the years.

Great video Chris, I just love that first hairpin as the ascent begins, had a little spin there in the wet a few years ago!

My first experience of the IOM was in an MX5, with the MX5 club - they closed the mountain section on your video and 120 plus MX5's in groups of 12 went flat out across the top - led by the local police cars, at that time Alfa 156 3.2V6's so no way the MX's (event the Turbos) could catch them. The police along the route were waving us on to go quicker - not a sight you often see.

One of the driving experiences I will remember forever and your video brought it all back!

Did you do any laps of jurby airfield? - thats a quick little circuit too.

Excellent thread, thanks for taking the time to do the vid and pics!

Glad to be of service Mark Sounds like you had a great time, maybe that's one thing we could organise for a future meet on the island. I like the sound of a police escort

See you again sometime,
chris.
