Scooby no.3 (Sti 3)
Finally got the car back from the rebuild!
Bought it 6 weeks ago suspecting that the big-ends had gone (got it for a very good price mind!
Took it to a local specialist (Kent Performance) and craig has done a cracking job. I have only done around 500 of the 1000 running in miles, but it's got bags of torque from low down and makes some lovely pops and bangs on over-run!
It's basically standard apart from the 4pot callipers and full decat exhaust system.
Got a few plans for it such as rota boost alloys in steel grey, sti4 front spoiler, colour code the skirts and remove those horrible 'wind deflectors' (which do b*gger all anyway! )
And the piccys!

Has anyone ever tried removing those silly wind-deflectors? I know someone who had one ripped off by vandals and it wasn't a pretty sight after! Also, do the 'subaru' mudflaps just un-bolt, or are they stuck on?

the wind deflectors are bonded with double sided tape which dosent like to come off when i did eventually get mine off it was a mess and needed painting, as for the spats/mudflaps thay unbolt but sometimes have a bit of double sided tape on them aswell

Top Scooby.... Ver.III are pure class.....
As above. Had a '95 with wind deflectors. One was cracked so deiced to remove. Right mess underneath, even after tape was removed there was lines in the paint.
If they are on and not cracked then best keep the paint original and leave them on I would suggest.

The Integra is one of those cars that every petrol head should own once in their life. It is a phenomenal machine, a real 'race car' for the road. But, over 2 months and 2000 miles, I just found it to be too 'peaky'.
At anything less than 10/10ths, it could feel lethargic and under-powered. When you're in the zone though, what a animal! It gripped like a leech and was very progressive. One main critisim was hitting vtec mid-corner, which un-settled the car to much for my liking. But, if you're hitting vtec mid-corner, I suppose you could argue that it wasn't being driven 'properly'. I'm just not in 'race-driver' mode for much of the time.
The impreza always seems to be able to throw on another hat whenever the driver wants it to. It's good for cruising, driving to and from work and on the odd occasion, nailing it down a country road!
I love the instant torque from 2000rpm, and the very 'neutral' handling. The sti's are also ridiculously quick in a straight line. Yes, it may only have 310bhp with a decat downpipe, but combined with the 1280kg weight, close ratio box and sorted suspension, the sti really is a back road hero.
In the past 3 years, I've gone from: sti4 to mr2 turbo to uk impreza turbo to integra back to an sti3.

3rd Impreza for me too Chris - Gone from an My93 Wrx to Golf Vr6 to My98 Uk turbo to ITR x2 ( As i didn't benefit from the 1st one as you know ) and back again to a V5 Sti Type-Ra.
Nothing can compare to a scoob for out right BHP per £ and the all important factor.
Luke.

Nice car.
Get a bodyshop to remove the wind deflectors. I conceeded defeat after the paint started to lift when i was removing the tape. Probably the most sensible £30 i've ever spent. They'll also be more likely to get them off in one piece so you can sell them on.

Couldn't fault the ITR's tbh, they just wasn't for me plain and simple.
The handling and grip are fantastic as you know, but it just didn't excite me. Having the company car for everyday driving, I wanted something that, every time i get behind the wheel i feel I'm in something special - the teg just couldn't do that & I got bored.
I toyed with the idea of getting an Evo 5 & left a small deposit on one( he had another buyer waiting & didn't want to loose it if the Sti was a dud) , but I wanted to see the Sti & covered 700 miles in a weekend to see both. Once I drove the Ra there was no comparison & I wrote the £150 deposit off - but the Ra was £1500 cheaper & in twice the condition .
The Evo was very quick but felt heavy & dull compared to the Ra.

The evo 5/6 is the only other car i'd really consider replacing the impreza with. But, as has happened before, i'll probably get bored after a few months and want another scooby. I don't know what it is about imprezas, but they certainly have something special!
