Default Pictues of Vortex Afterburner on Newages Please

Hi all....

Thinking of going for a Vortex afterburner for my 2002 STI - a change from the Prodrive backbox I currently have

I am looking for photos of the angled exit and straight exit to compare...also if anyone has the new 3'' version pleas post pics...

Thanks

Andy

Sorry to hijack, but did you notice any gains with the Prodrive Backbox from the STi?

No performance gains...
but is louder than the scoobyworld racebox that it replaces...
now looking for a afterburner which is louder still!

3 inch pipework with angled exit and afterburner decat centre section

(which had to be cut and welded back up to stop it touching the bumper. u can see the difference between the pics and the revving video as to bumper clearance.it was a new product when i got it so they might have got it slightly wrong..anyway. well worth the alterations.also had the burnt tip polished off at the same time as the cut n weld)

its 3 inch from the downpipe back all the way into the backbox rather than the standard 2.5

it would be a bit louder i suppose and they say more power with the 3 inch but you would stil be restricted SLIGHTLY by the 2.5 inch sections like i am.not alot though and the sound is the main reason for going 3 inch

Straight exit as angled does not fit on Hawkeye due to fouling on diffuser.

Afterburner and prodrive sports cat and thats it. Sounds nice, much better than prodrive rear box.

Thanks for the pictures all.....

I took the plunge and ordered one yesterday - it arrived today at 11am - thanks to Scoobyworld - exellent service

All fitted at 5.30pm by local friend!

The sound is much deeper - not ott at all on tickover - Looks the part and definately sounds it...

just waiting for tomorrow morning now to test it out on the way to work!

cheers

Good choice Andy!!

I'm currently selling my new Afterburner Hi-Flow Performance Silenced Centre Section but its for a Hawkeye, not sure if it fits a blobeye but replacing the centre section is essential to get that famous burble back!

Just fitted a one to line along with non resonator centre section and it's sounds lovely in my opinion.

Has anyone else polished the burnt tip off?? Can this be done with just elbow grease or is it a specialised thing??

I have a sports cat on mine. A friend has a straight through on his JDM and there is very little difference in noise.

I polished the tip on mine to remove the blue, I used something like 3000grit paper, then metal polish.
Used to be like this.

Be prepared for a gold exhaust if it gets hot!
