Recaro seat... finally seem to be making some progress.
Making some sort of progress today. Ive been up to my neck in it recently and havent had a chance to get this fitted.
Ive been fabricating runners to fit this as neatly as possible but its not as easy as you may think getting it to fit nice in a road car with interior trim.
Getting it in is okay... getting it where i wanna be sitting however is a diferent story
I have had no choice but to create a relief in the b pillar trim in order to get the seat where i want it. Its not pretty. However, I dont really care as its not noticable when the seats in place and another trim isnt exactly expensive.
Now i have a mock up of where i feel comfortable its tim to finish the mountings and runners and get it bolted in properly.
Here you can see the gutter i formed in the trim to create the clearance i wanted.
Its finally starting to come together

Nioce to see your car in JP this month guv, shame about youre ugly mug too.
Getting in and out is now far from pretty annd means a quick bank job is now out of the question.
However once youre in it... you feel just like Solberg

Any seat that doesn't have metal in it is gonna be light. A few years ago I had a pair of Cobra Suzukas - some kind of composite kevlar construction IIRC, anyway it was one normal size for the 'co driver' and one fat **** size for me (I think their euphemism was 'GT' size) and both of them you could pick up easily with a finger. I think they were something around 6 kg as well. Amazing how HEAVY normal car seats are compared to proper composite race seats. But I bet my Cobras were cheaper than those Recaros (which look the biz by the way).
Only thing that made me look at this thread actually was the mention of Recaro - my little boy has a Recaro child seat so if anyone's thinking of getting one, don't - the buckle pad wore out with only light use and started tearing away from the rest of the seat cover, now the supposed 2 year warranty is pretty much worthless as they don't hold spares in stock, nor does it seem they're too bothered about rushing one out to me. Even though they've admitted it's a warranty claim, I've been waiting since November. Wonder if they're more trading on their name nowadays than the quality of their products? Off topic rant over...

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how do you think you'll find the sideways vision at roundabouts and junctions etc..?

However, since fitting i have sat in it and can 100% say i have lost less that 5% of my previous vision. My blind spots are clearly visible as are my mirrors. The only thing i have to move my head to see now which i didnt before is the passengers face.
So im dead chuffed with it now

This was a very big concern of mine before fitting mate. I nearly sold it for one without the head restraint.
