17's or 18's? Prove why
Currently got 17's in Rota Boost, but looking for some white alloys to go on my Silver classic. Undecided on 17's or 18's
I am looking to drop it 50mm after alloys, and exhaust sits pretty low at mo, so considering 18's to get aroudn that issue.
BUT still undecided
esp after seeing touring cars last weekend eg Mike Jordan Intergar with white 18's Team Dynamics, so tempted..... but possibly abit pricing ahhhhh
unsure
Please post any example of 17's and 18;s ith a possible drop. (also if white wheels even better

Don't know about proving anything, but for a classic it would seem that 17" wheels are the best way to go.
I fitted 17" Speedline ST2's to my classic and then later fitted 18" Prodrive P1 wheels to it. The car was much better on the 17's, so I went back to them.
No proof, just personal and Scoobynet/Subaru owners experience.

I had 7.5x17" GRA's in white on my classic and wouldn't have goone any bigger on a classic! You lose handling and protection for your wheel by going that extra inch! 17's look great on them to 18's look to big!
Hope this helps!

to be honest if you put 18s on over 17s, your ground clearance wont be any different, as you compensate for the bigger rim with a shorter percentage tyre wall. unless you deliberatly put the wrong tyre size on?
its a myth that catches many people out.

As COB says, you want to keep the same rolling radius really so it wouldn't sit any higher anyway

17's for handling but they look stupidly small, 18's look the best on a classic.....period! I've just gone from 17's to 18's and i've noticed hardly any difference, but maybe thats cause i've got yoko parada's on them, if you are gonna go for 18's make sure you get a good quality tyre, i feel that that compensates a bit.

17s ride much better IMHO although you still get more tramlining than with 16s
18s with lower profiles feel every bump and for me, not worth the trouble.
17's with decent suspension will look great.
be aware that over lowering a car will affect its overall geometry and might just handle like a bog of sh1te. (take it somewhere that specialises in it) - Not Halfrauds!!! lol
horses for courses though and if you like 18s go for it. this is just my personal opinion.
good luck

I dont see what is wrong with 16s. Ive got speedline safaris on mine and they look the bollocks!! Not a fan of all this low profile stuff.Tyres cost too much for a start!!
But then I suppose if you need to go bigger to make up in other departments...?lol

Much prefer 17's to 18's, the ride quality is so much better and you have more confidence to push the car in corners.
18's the ride comfort is rubbish and they are not as compliant as 17s over bumps and pot holes.
17's and 440bhp, proper driver here then

18`s are only driveable if you can fit 40 profile tyres on them
anything less and it tends to be to harsh
lucky for me i can fit 40`s no problem
still drives much better on 17`s, to be honest, mine drive fine on 16`s FWIW

17's for me too, Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's
I had 18's on my last car and kinda regreted it, was great for posing but not for driving as others have said
my scoob is lowered too on coilovers but not sure exactly by how much, the rear arches do catch the tyres but that will all be sorted out soon enough as the car is in having the arches done as we speak, dropped the car off to the bodyshop this morning
this pic was taken last night

i thought 17" tyres were cheaper then 16" as they were much more common?
