Smile One of my other cars (The Show Car) non scooby content 56k warning!!!

right with me being new and all, i thought id show you my real pride and joy, built it all myself, from scratch, sprayed it, trimmed it, engine swap, the lot was done by me, i dont even work in mechanics i work in architecture!

so the car, well its in alot of eyes not as nice looking as a scooby, and most have there views on the type of car as there known as cheap old bangers that are as common as subarus! lol

So the Car

The Engine

Its a 2.0 Silvertop Zetec, nothing special prob only about 140bhp but speed wasnt what i built this car for! i am young so always been into externally modded cars! but then wanted a little extra power (plus the old 1.6 blew a ring!) lol

The 300mm Front Brakes (nothing special in scooby world, but best cheap upgrade on an escort as there actually Mrk3 Mondy brakes!) lol

And the current project
Got to the stage where im nearly done now just one thing left un modified is the actualy dash, i did try to trim the original one but its just to fiddly to get a good finish, even the pro ones i have seen look crap! so i decided to build a new style dash, sorta 70's american muscle car stylie in my eyes, will be trimmed white with painted black perspex with black faced Cyberdyne digital dials behind statigically unpainted parts of the perspex, but should be hidden well being a black face when all turned off, so i want to lose everthing in the dash from heaters to needle dials, everything will be converted to run digital dials,

so let me know what you think guys!

like i said guys i didnt build it to be fast, it has a 2.0 mondeo lump in it, which is good enough, i brought a subaru for the speed thrills! plus if i put a fast engine in it then i will drive fast and rip the bumper off! more of a cruiser than a racer!

i have 3 cars

Show Car - 2.0 Escort
Fast Car - 1995 WRX Impreza
Cheap Run Around - 1.2 Corsa B

Really really like that mate, only thing if I was being fussy is that I'm not sure that the mk6 rear end works too well with the Cossie kit, would like sweeter with the mk5 rear lights IMO (hope I haven't got my Escort mk's mixed up! )

Thats only me being fussy though, looks brilliant mate

yes it has a cossie kit (most off one) but please dont refer to it as a replica, because it aint!

if i wanted to build a replica i would have built it with a mark 5 shell. the rear end if not all cossie, the rear bumper is a version of a ST24 bumper, also, to step away from the "replica" status, i went with the jap wheels, lairy paint, etc etc IMO there is no aftermarket kit other than adapted cossie parts that suit a mark 6, simply because all kits are to square cut and an escort is a curvy car,

thanks for the comments guys, didnt expect anyone on here to like it, but you proved me right by mentioning not enough power! lol sod spending thousands on a zetec to get 200bhp when you can buy a scooby with a reliable 280 out the box!

its a barryboys car, but I do appreciate the effort you have put into it. I will never understand the point of these cars, be it "show car" or "a real head turner" its a bit like girls with fake *****, all style & no substance.

all IMHO of course.

at least you have the ability to type in english sentences ans don't use text speak

I will be interested to see how the dash turns out

seriously, never say that again! i hate that site, cars may not be to your liking but people dont have to just sit there and slate them,

also the point of these cars are that when you are younger and cannot afford a fast powerful car you concentrate more on the exterior as thats cheap!

im 22 now so i got this car at 19! no chance of me affording a scooby then let alone insure it!! where as now i can. im sure your first car wasnt putting out 300hp

anyway, as for taxing 3 cars, more a case of insuring 3 cars! lol

i will say it again, in fact i might even post it up there seeing as you have got your pants up in a bunch about it. Barryboys.co.uk is a fantastic site and meant as a joke, but we get far too many people ranting and raving on there because someone has a different opinion other than "dats a wel sik ryde m8"

as for the "insurance is too expensive so i'll mod the outside" excuse, thats utter ****! if you declared those mods to your insurance company they would probably be charging you the same as a real cossie.

if you read my post, i did actually give you credit for doing the work yourself and im looking forward to seeing how the dash turns out. you posted your car up here so people could give their opinions, i did just that!

if you wish to discuss further then pm me as i dont wish to start a flame war.

thanks.

Nice work on the car, I saw it in some mag the other month.

With it having the cossie bumper, side skirts, wheelarch extensions, bonnet vents (and the whaletail obviously) it does look like a replica at a glance. . . .

I have to agree with DJ_Jon im afraid.

Cossie kit, on an escort, is in my eyes, a poor replica, even if you say it isnt...just like sticking a turbo bonnet on a Sport.

Its not my cuppa tea one little bit, but then, on the other hand, I can totally appreciate the time and effort you have put into it.

Be interested to see how the dash ends up too, looks like some good work going on there!

Not my style, but I think it looks very well done!

Dont agree with the barry boys comments at all, yours is more a max power type car, not to everyones taste but the quality of work looks very good!

Barry boys cars are the corsa's / escort's or dare I say it......Impreza's with the badly fitted bodykits, poor paint jobs and huge exhausts you cold fit your head up!

As said I wouldnt want it myself but I think the quality or work looks great

i'd have more pleasure buring a month of my pay packet than spending it on creating a car like that. The work is to a high standard but the premise is so wrong is a fraudulent car that has no credibility with regard to its heritage and purpose.

you lose
