I did respray mine, and it was quite easy, also looked good, but i managed to get a crack in it!, through my stupidity, so in the end i got one refurbed from API for about 100 quid delivered.

When i sprayed mine initially, i think it costed about £17 quid for paint, etch primer included.

Is there much difference between classic and newage inlets? There's plenty of classic ones on ebay for £30, and the only thing I can think of is the tumblers on newage WRXs. I'd rather get a spare and get it right without taking the car off the road.

obviously there are gaskits that you would be disterbing when removing the inlet right? are these all reusable or is it new gaskits all round?

Newage inlets are very different to classic ones, including the whole engine bay setup and sensors etc, also there are a few different types of classic inlets, phase 1, 1.5 and 2, just depends on the MY of your car/engine.

I removed everything from the inlet when painting mine, the idle control valve and throttle body both have gaskets, but they were fine to re-use. I had spares on standby.
I fitted inlet insulators, so needed extra gaskets, and replaced the existing ones. I guess it's luck if they get damaged or not.

New gaskets all round is a good idea, its about 7 quid for each inlet/head gasket (classic), 5/6 quid for the TB to inlet, 11 quid for the idle valve to inlet.

I also fitted insulators, and bought 4 new gaskets to be sure.
