Hi, I've been busy today covering a spot cover on the facelift bumper I'm soon to fit, and I'm just after your opinions. The bumper/splitter will be white, and i will be fitting the standard decals.
The cover:

The carbon:

The finished cover:

And fitted:

Before i do the other cover, I'm still unsure if it'll look good on white? What do you think? Be honest!![Thumb](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif)
Thanks.Mit

They look great and the carbon will be a perfect contrast to the white.
Out of curiosity, how easy is that to do and where do you get the kits? I don't want any of the cheap foilatec carbon sticker stuff and there's a few bits around the car I wouldn't mind doing.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think i'll go with it and do the other one.
You can buy kits from here:Carbon Fiber Sheet and High Performance Carbon Fibre Products - Carbon Mods
And here's their guide:YouTube - How to cover parts in carbon fiber (fibre) by skinning or wrapping
I didn't buy their kit, i got some carbon fibre cloth off ebay, and some surf board resin, spent £30, and got 1000mmx500mm or carbon, so more for less!
Some tips from doing it:
1 Make sure the item your covering is black, if not paint it, as you will see any other colour through the weave. You don't want red, white etc spots on it!
2 The carbon will build up a layer, so make sure the item your covering will still fit after.
3 The resin kills paint brushes, paint thinners won't touch it, I've used a brush per coat!
4 some resins don't harden like paint, and you may get finger print marks in the finish. Use lacquer(as i will) to make it hard.

And then there were 2!

I need to do a fine sanding with wet and dry, just to make it perfect, then the lacquer, but I'm happy with the initial results![Luxhello](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/luxhello.gif)
I'll be getting the bumper sprayed next month, so i'll post some pics up when it's done.

I did think of doing the splitter, but got put off because I'd need to buy 2mx1m, at £90. Also, the splitter is quite flexible, so i think it would be a mare to cover, and if it set a bit twisted, it'd be £100 for a new splitter!![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I'm looking to do the alternator cover too, just the metal part(see my garage for engine). If it looks odd, i have the air con metal cover i replaced with the plastic one, and cover that too! The fuse box has a lip and catch on it, so wondered how easy it'd be to get a good finish![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
If anyone does any bits, post em up

Hi, just posting a pic of the final cover. I flatted the resin, then polished it, didn't go for the lacquer in the end. Also fitted the decals to it. Can't wait to get the bumper sprayed!![Luxhello](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/luxhello.gif)

I'll give the car a good clean tomorrow, and get some better ones up.
