MY09 Black hatch
My new 09 that I picked up yesterday with 10 miles on the clock (sorry for the pics, I'll have to redo them at some point)
Taking it easy and below 3500rpm will be a challange, it just wants to go!!!
This will take some getting used to
[hide][/hide]
Thats after 56 miles

Very nice. Handles well (as it should, its a wrx with a different engine), plenty of torque (258 ft/lb) and quick. Not STi quick, but a good Jeckel and Hyde car. Will be a commuter, and when the need grabs you, you can bury the gas pedal and it will put a smile on your face.

Will do, can't help but think it would look better with the black grille like the sti. Do far it's been nice to drive, but the commute starts on tues and that will be a big test.

Impreza Diesel. The car to save Subaru in the UK? Hopefully there will be an STI one as that looks a little bit too plain for my taste but you cannot argue with the MPG and the handling!

After 3 days of owner ship I thought I'd give quick report
First impressions are
Its quick (est 7 - 8ish secs 0 - 60) book says 9 which I think is wrong given the legacy specs (same engine and heavier) The specs I have also say top end is 127 mph, yet the handbook says 138 (but all Subaru's are now limited to 130 mph, so if the 127 the limited speed then it should say so IMHO)
Handles very well.
Feels very long in the nose compaired to a classic
Feels alot larger and roomier compaired to a classic.
Very comfy, but these are semi bucket seats so less body hugging, which takes some getting used to when going round corners, as does the 6 speed box. Above 1500 rpm when the turbo's cut in, there is enough torque to get you in serious trouble if your not expecting it.
Downside I have noticed, rear view isn't what it could be and where the C pillars is 1 massive blind spot when reversing. Rear view is much improved by taking out the rear head rests, which isn't a problem for me. In the 6 years I owned my classic sport, I only ever had rear passengers 3 times.
That and it doesn't like short trips, I've done 3, 8 mile round trips and seen the mpg drop from 48.6 driving back from the dealership (40 miles) to 42mpg.

Looks good and seems to have some punch too Not often you see an Impreza showing over 44mpg Cant see why they cant make an STI version. VW done it with the Golf GTTDI.
