Probably the best carwash I have ever done!!
This is probably the most effort I have ever put into washing my car. Rinse down, wash with turtle wax, wheel clean with Wonder Wheels, chamois dry, polished with the new Turtle Wax ICE.
Job done, took about 2 hours.
What do you guys think? All comments welcome!!

Take it easy with the Wonder Wheels, it's very acidic and over time may eat away the lacquer. Also, ditch the chamois. You should be washing with a lambswool mitt, rinsing it in a 2nd bucket of clean warm water between each panel. After rinsing, dry it off with deep pile microfibre towels. Have a read in the Car Care section for tips on better wax, sealant and polishing products than Turtle Wax, and how they should be applied and buffed (foam pads and more microfibre towels). Polishes should only be used to remove damage such as swirls or scratches, or to cut the car back to bare ready for a fresh application of protectents. Wax based protectents are OK to use through the winter, but degrade in sunny conditions. Polymer based sealants are less hardy than wax, but stand up to summer heat better.

Thanks for the input though.

But fair play on you ignoring us, just drive it and enjoy! Dump the Turtle Wax and Wonder Wheels though for something a bit better, makes the odd occassion you do clean 'it' easier!

Soap and water mate! Wheel cleaners are normally very acidic and eat the clear coat... Gonna take you a bit of time to get them clean using the old 'manual' technique, but once they are clean to make them stay clean in the long term use Poorboys Wheel Sealant - Poorboys Wheel Sealant | Buy Wheel Sealant Online - TheUltimateFinish.co.uk! Excellent stuff and keeps the brake dust off thus it makes them easier to clean next time (I have only just started using this myself after talking to Type R Pete and Si (SSS) at Japfest)!

Wow!! Thanks for the reply but I'm afraid thats a bit wasted on me sorry. With all due respect, I have no intention of spending that much time or money on my car. It looks great as it is without spending another £100 on products. Its all a bit geeky in the car care section and people get a bit OTT about cleaning a car.
Thanks for the input though.

MF towels for drying off and for buffing sealants can be had from Poundland, Aldi etc so again, not breaking the bank, and again preventing swirls that chamois are guilty of.
Decent products don't have to cost the earth either. Much of the Meguiars range is similarly priced to the Turtle Wax and Autoglym stuff.
I fully detail mine twice a year, spending maybe 4-5 hours, but the interim washes are under an hour, maybe fortnightly. I might top up the wax/sealant after a couple of months, adding a second hour occasionally. I don't think it's excessive !

Car looks great
I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from with the "nerdiness" of the car care though.
I've got a mate who spends a FORTUNE on products and research - more than he does cleaning the car (although only just )
He can't stand the fact that I wash the car, and then DRIVE it
I've got a claybar and various meguires products and it does pay every now and again to do it. But I put it into perspective that if I spend my time doing the car, it's less time with the wife and kids (not a good thing in my case!!LOL!!! )
Once every 6 months on Wifey's car for the claybar (GTI6), once a year on mine. Wash and chamois at LEAST every other week (weather depending) Extra coat of wax/polish every other month maybe?
(I can see the Detailing lot gasping and shaking their heads already!!LOL!! )
But to put a different slant on it, IF you've got the time to do it, and you put the effort in, it does look very good indeed.
After all, there must be some point in doing it all though - people actually make a living out of it!!!

I spent six hours doing mine last week, best results eva.
I used;
Auto glym Bodywork shampoo conditioner,
Meguires clay bar & Meguires quick detailer (superb),
Auto glym super resin polish,
Meguires gold class liquid wax,
and then Meguires NXT Generation Speed Detailer.
Wheels were simply done with Meguires Hot Rims All Wheels and sealed with Auto glym Alloy Wheel Seal, and to finnish it off I used Meguires High Gloss Hot Shine tyre spray.
I was well satisfied
