Default New Window Tints-BlobEye STI

After some help from various members on here posting pics up, I had my car booked in today for some window tints.

Front 2 sides are a light smoke, rear 3 are a medium smoke. Wanted a subtle look rather than limo black rears, which I think look best on the 3Door Imprezas.

Even got a lift to and from the shop from the owner whilst he did the tints in his very smart A6, what a service.
All done Mark from Tintman in Clacton-Essex.

In the direct sunlight they appear a lot lighter, as you can see. Even still the cars a LOT cooler inside, from this expected heat wave we're about to get

I'll play that bit by ear, they are so light though it may go past the radar, as the fitter said, if they can see the driver pretty clearly you should be 99% ok. If not I'll take them off, simple as.

hey mate, what mesh did you use on the fog light surrounds? And the one in the middle too? I've had the foglight surrounds on for ages, but am yet to find a mesh which matches to the grille between the lights.

Looks great btw

Well that fog light mesh is well old, getting on for 10yrs, something I had left over from my Nova bonnett scoop. I was only lucky I had it and it matches pretty well to the factory grill you see in the middle. It was silver though, so had to be sprayed black.

You best bet is to look in Halfords, they do some good mesh, or Demon Tweeks web site, as you know you need an open style of mesh nothing too tight looking.

as said front tints r illegal if they let in less 30% light i no & got pulled £30 fine but no points this time if u get pulled cars marked for 6months with the chance of getting 3 points each window +fine nx time ur pulled

they r going to include window tints as part of mot if dont meeet 30% limit its a fail

some people are being made to remove tints at road side .

looks good mate, I've got the same tints on mine - never had any problems with the old bill. Personally I don't think they know the difference between ultra light and light. Its the poeple with medium, dark and limo at the front they always pull over.

Like the toyo wheels, did the tyres comes with the white toyo logo? or did you use one of the those tyre pens?

These fronts let in 50%, which I'm adviced by more than one window tinter(not just the one that fitted them) is on the line between legal & ilegal, to be honest they are a lot lighter than I was expecting.

In the similar boat then regards to the front windows, sure it'll be fine, they are too discrete I think.

Oh yes the white Toyo's are done with white tyre pen. Done a few days ago to see how it looks, as I'm due for some new tyres soon thought I'd try it now, I actually like them, but they have started to crack a bit, not badly just in parts, so looks like they won't last long.

pays your money takes your chance !

traffic cars now carry device to check how much light is getting through & got to let 70% light in tint only ment tobe 30%

mine where on car when i got it & never had any trouble 4 7months , it was in local paper saying police where r starting clamp down on front tints i also no this as my sisters partner is traffic cop, some window tinters r stopping doing front windows even if you want them done

like i say pays your money takes your chance

Even if tints are only 50%, add that to the standard window tint of say 10% then you twice as dark as you're allowed, does look good though!

Looks great, personally I'd have darker ones, but my car is darker so maybe it'll suit it better

the plod are more likely to stop people with smaller/illegal plates as it stands out easier
