how the hell can you tighten them up without damageing them?

Those nuts have a socket that fits in the middle of them instead of a socket going around them.

I can recall many many years ago seeing a small Honda that looked as though it had been flocked all over the body work. This must have been 20 to 30 years ago :-0 thou' - I do still remember it looked good then.

That's a cracking idea, I've been having trouble finding some decent 4-way stretch material is proving difficult.

pretty much any material, as long as it is prepared and sealed properly then it would be perfectly ok and of course easily do all the angles and corners
