Default My STi 330s washed and polished.

After using the CarKandy ClayBar last week and being very pleased wit the results. I took up Richard @ www.CarKandy.co.uk offer of 10% off any product on their website (use the Mojo discount code when ordering to get 10% off )

So I bought some of the the URBAN Alloy wheel cleaner and the Juiced car Polish.

That arrived Friday...

Tonight, now it's light night I thought I'd give the car a wash after my 300mile round trip drive to Devises/Wiltshire this weekend. (that was a tank of SUL used)

I started with Snow Foam..

Rinsed that all off then gave it a hand wash with nice new microfiber sponge/wash mit, then rinsed the car again.

Next was to do the alloys with the URBAN alloy cleaner. Dead easy to do, spray on, agitate then rinse off (I used the jet wash again for that).
I can't believe how much muck came off the alloys.

I then dried the car off, with a shammy... a quick whizz round the block in the car to get the last bits of water out the crevices of the car.
Put the car back on the drive and dried the last spots of water off with a micro fibre cloth.

I then started doing a panel at a time with the Carkandy juiced car polish.

I started with the front wing and bonnet

All you do is apply with a soft cloth.. leave a few mins then polish off with a micro fibre cloth, it doesn't leave all white polish over the plastic trim either!
The pix don't do the finish on my car justice.
Having clay bar'd last week, this has just finished the car off. Paint work is now silky smooth. A lot better than I thought I'd ever get it. Its seems to have even taken out the little scratches that I noticed under some artifical lights. That made me pleased too.

I then started to loose the light so I put the car in the garage and finished off the roof, sides and the rear...

I'm over the moon with the results that I've got.. I'm no pro, I've just done it by hand and the paint work (I know its only two years old.. but it wasn't brilliant when the dealer said they'd valeted it!) looks fantastic.
When you think a litre of CarKandy JUICED Polish is under £10 why pay silly money when IMO my car looks fab.

The Alloys too have come up great with a nice clean sheen look to them. I've not had them like that as when I've washed them I use traffic film remover, with the URBAN alloy cleaner, there's no need to used TFR. The Urban cleaner is acid free too so a winner in my eyes.

I might be a real saddo and re polish the car again this week ready for the Total Impreza photo shoot on Sunday, got to have the car looking it's best.

any comments?

Wink

I assume you used a 2 bucket method when washing it and the buckets contained a grit guard

I also assume the word shammy is a work for some new drying towel similar tothe medium
Waffle weave or even a CG miracle dryer

I also assume you patted it dry rather then rub it

The wheel arches would be cleaned and dressed?

And the exhaust would of been cleaned with autosol ?
The black trim section would be treated and also what sort of glass cleaner did you use

Great report

Fine looking car
I love the wheels ,better they are easier to clean then my GT1s and it will be allowed into the arena at the hatch section competion at the Nbo

Well done

omg, what do you want fom me!! I did it all in less than 2 hrs!!

1. didn't need two buckets.. washed it over with only using half a bucket
2. the shammy is a rubber-y typre of cloth from halfords, you need to store it damp i the pastic container. Also used a mirco fibre hand mit to finish off. Patted it??? No. lol
3. how do I get into the wheel arches to clean?
4. zorst will get cleaned with Mer or Autosol later this week, along with the plastic trim (I use AutoGlym Plastic trim cleaner for that)
5. glass cleaner I've not needed to do yet, but I have some AutoGlym glass cleaner and also use this, it's great leaves no smeers.

NBO, as i said before. We'll have a 4week old baby by then so it will all depend how Jofeels about coming out wit it.

take the wheels off of course

then you can wash each wheel inside and apply by hand some wheel wax and then some wheel shield!!

tut tut, i dont know!!! part time cleaner!!!!!

serioulsy tho, bet the hatch is glad you are its owner, being well treated and lavished with love and wax

are you going to rally day this year???

I thinking that , if any of you have been in the past, my stand that consists of around 50 RB5's and RB320's always has some spare space, we could get a line up of hatches too.

last year it was me n drumster's on the stand with the cossie hatch behind us

What he means is
1) the amount of water isnt down to the amount of muck on your car,
The idea is to rinse your wash mitt in 1 bucket to remove as much dust/muck as possible then rinse in the clean bucket for the car,
The idea is that you remove more particles this helps reduce swirls etc,
2) You pat not rub to again stop any damage by any bits of dust you may have missed, as you drag your synthetic rag across the surface it can mark it,
3) a APC or mild wheel solution then power wash and dress,
4) The whole car is the whole car not just the easy bits lol
5) If you have washed your car I will put a good few quid that your windows will have water marks on now so If your after a car to look its best you have to do it all,

TBH in 2 hours you should pi ss it with a AIO as you did most of the harder work with the clay last week,

If your unsure how to wash your car properly there are plenty of guides on DW/google etc, You have must of the gear and some idea is the politest way to put it atm imho.

When you have a little brush for the air vents and use sellotape rolled into a ball to remove fluff from the carpets and seats then you are doing it right

Also a old credit card to slide in the black trim parts to get all traces of White wax residue is a important part of the car washing and care kit
