Default rocker cover gasket

Could someone please tell me how hard it is to change a rocker gasket on a impreza wrx (2001 bugeye), ive had 2 garages say they wont work on a subaru, subaru main dealer trying to charge me £185 +vat (labour only) Then i finally find a garage to do it for £70 bought my parts grand total £58( subaru main dealer) and today there,ve cancelled for the 3rd time. Cant find any links on you tube. is it hard to do or can it be done quite easily.....
Any feedback would be great......

Did mine this weekend mate, very easy to do on my classic. If your doing both sides, on o/s remove air intake, remove plug leads, pull breather pipe off top of rocker cover. Then simply untighten the retaining bolts(mine had 6, yours may have 8), whip of the cover. Take old gasket out, put new one in the cover.

Put a wee bit of sealer round the half moons as they are a weak point.(3 bond recommended)

Refitting is a reversal of removal.

N/s is the same but you have to remove the battery and washer bottle to get access.

They're really straight forward mate. First mechanical thing I ever did on my car and they're still going strong 3 years later. Bear in mind this is on a CLASSIC.

Remove all surrounding parts, windscreen washer bottle, battery etc... doesn't have to be removed, but makes it easier.

Remove the cover to expose the cams:

Replace these seals (including bolt seals):

just about to do mine, have a leak of oil dripping onto the up-pipe,(not much, enough to smell it sometimes) so assume corner of the rocker gasket.

to the people who have done it,did you use any sealant gunk or just the seals on their own ?

cheers
