Default A little tribute to my old Impreza

Little being the appropriate word.

I started this when I had my Impreza but finished after I had to sell it. It's the first time I've actually been properly gutted to see a car go but at least I have this to remember it.

The real car

The replica in 1/24 scale

And a few other model kits I've built. I rediscovered the old hobby of model building and now currently have 37 kits to build!

Mercedes Actros Motorsport Transporter

2001 Richard Burns Impreza WRC

Shelby GT350-R

Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird

Current kits in progress; Skyline GTR Nismo Z-Tune, Warsteiner Mercedes CLK DTM, 1/12 Honda RA272 F1 car and a custom modified Ferrari 360 and currently building a Supermarine Spitfire which I'm nearly done with. I will get the other ones finished eventually. Anyone else into model building?

I wouldn't want to sell but I can commission build a kit for you if you want. Not bothered about been paid, I just enjoy the building models just cover the cost the kit and materials.

Within reason yeah so long as there is a kit available of the make and model car you'd like a replica of then it can be done.

Some parts have to be custom made, like the STI lip spoiler on the front. That had to be made from scratch as no kit available has it in. The only Impreza that isn't available is the Hawkeye, for some reason no one bothered.

It's 1/24 scale. What sort of model are you after? (as in what car etc)

I love the Blackbird, that is my favorite aircraft. Nice job, it looks awesome. Wouldn't mind a model of one of those?!

Thanks for the comments guys you would be surprised how easy it is to get started with model building. I got properly into it in 2009 to the point of it being a regular hobby and I would think my stock of kits, materials and tools is around £1000 worth.

The SR-71 was by far the easiest kit to build because of its simple sleek shape and the fact it's one colour haha. The decals were a nightmare but manageable. The kit is made by a company called Italeri, it's 1/72 scale and is still about 14" long! I got mine from my local model shop but if you can source one (eBay is most likely place to find one) and would like it building then by all means give me a shout

nice builds.

I used to do many builds with custom stuff

here's the last I did, using an Autoart impreza metal to produce a one off for the Richard Burns Foundation charity - Slipend Subaru bought it for £100

Started as a standard black hawkeye sti which i made custom stickers and painted all the interior

RB5 that's a great looking rb320 rep! Looks spot one. I did a McRae one with a diorama which I auctioned off for charity. That was a fair few years ago now.

Model of the classic is by a company called Hasegawa they are quite rare now so slowly creeping up in value. They also make a rally car version but as with the road car, they are very rare now.

The 2001 WRC impreza is made by Tamiya.

lol i have built every single one of them in that pic, the alfa 155 was my first build lol

hasegawa models tended to come up narrower then tamiya for some reason, but their quality was better and also included photo eted stuff to make real harnesses and other metal components

a big hint is to get some transfer liquid stuff that hels melt the transfers over the moulds much better!!!

kinda used to go to town on them

That weathering is superb! I'm about to try weathering out for the first time on the spitfire I'm building. I remember the rally that the evo had the wheel ripped off, thats an excellent replica of that event!

I have the decal liquids - Microsol and microset they make such a big difference to applying decals.
