Default Series1 RS Turbo detailed by Distinctive Detailing

I was contacted by a customer I had already done a previous detail for, to detail a purchase he made last summer but had not done anything with.
The car is a series 1 RS turbo that has 85k and is in exceptional condition with this being a non custom the paint was very thin to start with and had previously been buffed to death by previous owners.

On arrival

Time to scrub

once washed it was inside to clay and inspect

time to strip it down, ready to machine polish

after

while the lights was out it was time to give the inner wings etc a clean

while it was in bits the customer asked me to fit clear protection film on all the spats and spotlights

a quick clean

remove previous polish left by last person

gone

grille and all lights back in plus windscreen wipers etc

Time to do the wheels and have a look underneath, this car has never been welded and all the sills and chasis rails are straight as an arrow its been jacked up properly in the past

gave the exhaust a polish too

so onto the inside; all original stickers are still in there

The door handles in this shot were not the same on both doors so I adjusted them to be symetrical

A switch mount I made to house the Clifford valet switch as the alarm fitter left it hanging on the 2 wires

and some finished shots

thanks for looking craig

i seem to have had a spirt on doing classic RS's

Suddenly miss my Series 1. Mine was a custom which had a 'Special' leaking sunroof. I remember vacuuming it out with my mums new dyson and it never worked again! Great work mate i'll have to pop over and let you work your magic on the Scoob. My school is in Gleadless so not too far from you i think.

Perfect job Craig! You sure are getting the classic Fords in lately!

You must have a lot of concours show cars coming in around this time of year?

Good job

I loved the old rs turbo's
I used to drive a gunmetal grey fiesta rs turbo with the green stripe
the rs turbo's are getting rare now and it is nice to see such a fine example

The Escort is mine, I've got to take my hat off to Craig, unbelievable job

The car is superb but Craig has taken her to a whole new level.

Now, if only they were as reliable as the modern day Japanese cars lol

stunning

i sooo want to treat my scoob to a proper clean up,

but dings, small rust cracks and a slightly different silver on 1 panel, making me think its not worthwhile.

what you think mate - still worth doing?

presuming its a show car?

id be scared to drive it tbh, but at same time immensely happy

you get some haters of "non drivers" but if my numbers came up my garage would be full of the likes of cars like yours mate - along with my "daily's" lol

as the pythons say ,"you lucky, lucky b*stard" lol

Depending on how bad it is i do use a very good bodyshop that could maybe sort these problems at the same sort of time price depending obviously, i have done it with a few and iv got a evo having bits done there now before i then finish it, your call either way i dont want to just say yes to you ,

Well I'll certainly be going to shows in her but she won't be a trailer queen. Being set up this week, ready for a "spirited drive" to Santa Pod next Sunday.

They need to be driven after all (just not when there's rain/snow/grit around if it's a shonky old Ford lol)

haha had enough old fords, although my love was always xr3, 3i's and xr2's as sad as it sounds - to know they just dont mix well with road debris and water.

im sure i remember reading about the steel ford used during the production periods being of sub-standard quality from spain/italy or along those lines? who knows couldve just been nonsense, but it was attributed to the terrible corrosion issues of the era.

anyway, love the car, looks stunning mate. great job and credit to the man thats done the work
