Default Plastidip - Part 1

I know it may seem like I'm jumping on the band-wagon but I've been planning this for some time - so having ripped off the carbon wrap this is what I have done so far...

I've ordered some black alcantara to trim the sun-visors and have some chrome door handles to fit, but when the black is back in stock I shall also be painting:-
  • Glove box
  • Under the steering column
  • Steering column surround
  • Front splitter (with a gloss finish)
  • Roof flap handle (in red)
  • Adjustable lateral arms (in red)
  • Coil springs (if I don't buy coilovers)
  • Possible the door cards
  • TBC - FMIC pipework, oil catch can and induction kit/maf housing

Cheers Tommy

It does feel good - can't beat the feel of rubber

It proved great for all the trim clips and stuff too which was a bonus

Roof lining was just a sheet of faux suede and a can of fabric glue - if I had some patience it would have looked even better

I'm not mate, car's spending tomorrow on the ramps trying to sort out the binding brakes and doing an ABS delete (and adjust the handbrake) and then I'm going away Sunday and with having guests staying all weekend too I just don't have the time - you are more than welcome to stop in for coffee if you are ever passing

Good work buddy.

I have just gone to town on my interior to, with flocking and suede bits. Really easy to do the roof isn't it I went with black suede. Seats are next lol, never ending the modifying lark.

I do like that head lining and visors ,did you cover them yourself ?.
So you have sprayed your dash trim with a rubberized coating of something ?.

Apart from the flocking the interior has all been done by me - roof lining was a piece of faux suede and some fabric glue and I just started at one end and slowly glued it all on. The sun-visors will be trimmed in black alcantara with a red stitch when the material arrives

All of the trim including stereo surround, heater vents, window switch surrounds, roof flap surround and mini visor, grab handles and blanking plugs have all been painted in plastidip which is a rubberised type of coating. By time I finish every surface inside the car will be flocked, trimmed or plastidipped

That's the plan assuming the car holds together - sorting the brakes today hopefully but the gearbox needs a couple of new ratios

You can get both, I've got an electric HVLP spray gun. You can get the paint from here http://www.plastidip.co.uk/index.cfm or ebay, cheaper direct if you buy in bulk due to the postage not being addd to each item cost as it is on ebay

I've got primer for some of the external bits, but it is fine without on the dash, and the lacquer is available if you want a gloss finish - again I'm going to use this on the splitter and lateral arms but the dash is bare

Still out of stock of the black at Plastidip and been at a funeral/college over the past 2-weeks with some weight saving in between

https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...l#post10780761

Back in work this week but got a long weekend next weekend (less a trip to the Harry Potter thing in Elstree) so might some more stuff done although I have a garage full of bits and a dissertation proposal to write

I have got some red thread and some alcantara sat here to do the sun visors (and maybe even the steering wheel) and some push buttons to remote my PSI3 controls, just need a curly cable - and with a wife and 2 kids I'm starting to wonder I'm going to fit all of this in along with the turbo swap, remap, and some jobs I've promised to do for others

It takes a few hours to prep and paint the bits (longer if it needs to be primed) but I'd suggest a good 72-hours to allow it to dry. I have a mark on one of my grab handles from refitting them too early (36-hours later) but these were just air drying in my garage - if I'd have got the heater on it maty have been better.
