Default More Roadkill

Once upon a time, on a dark stretch of Lincolnshire back road.....

....a stupid deer ventured out into the middle of the road

The light is undamaged except for a tiny crack on the bracket that holds the grill. The grill has flexed in the impact and lost its paint, but is not damaged. The bonnet needs replacing because of the way the underskin sits. As I tried to beat it out the skins seperated and I can't get underneath the largest deer's **** imprint

It was a lightweight alloy one too

I was actually taking it easy, and the deer decided to run the same way as I was going, so combined with shedding some knots the impact speed was relatively low. I've hit one head on before and done a lot more damage, but that was a company car

It has stretched the metal, I've done some panel beating in the past so I had a go and it won't reshape.

I've found a carbon one in Stanmore if I can get some more cash together, blew it last week on a roof flap

What a nightmare mate, on the bright side though carbon would look nice against the DBM

Do you think so, given nothing else is carbon

I've found one for £400, local too so I can inspect it, but I really am tempted just to get another alloy one and save for the S202 spoiler I've found (again a non-carbon option available)

I reason it would look good as both are dark so wouldnt stand out like a sore thumb and would also continue the carbon theme from inside to the exterior.

I guess it all depends on cash and whether it works out cheaper to get a new metal bonnet and get it sprayed or buy the carbon one : wonder:

I'm planning a respray in the near future so the cost of spraying is insignificant. Worst case, I could get a carbon one, if I don't like it spray it up and have the benefit of light weight

It is not looking quite as neat after my tantrum with my hammers and dies

TBH, there is that many other blemishes, dints and chips across the bonnet it is actually quite a good excuse to replace it. Just need to save a few quid

But if you do bodywork, where are you based, and how big you can handle - full resprays

It'll be next year, but you may well get a call from me. I'm have some ideas, and the paint mixing is key to giving me something different, but subtly so

It's not that radical, just a slight twist on the mix of the current DBM

I've got a roof flap to fit and some other bits to refit so I'm happy and I'll prepping all the plastics in the process. Won't quite need a bare metal respray, but it has been repaired in the past and I'm seeing lots of lacquer starting to peel

would be best to just da back the clear coat and lay down a sealer coat first to stop any future problems and i only use high quality clears such as standox premium so you wouldn't have troubles like that with my work and you'd need your sun glasses in the sun cause don't it shine[especially with my special additive]lol

Found one in Stockport, don't really fancy the carbon one, although it is an option.
