Jimmy Davis Memorial Football Match.
Please take the time to read this:
Last August a good friend of mine was tragicly killed in a road accident, this young mans name was Jimmy Davis, age 21.
At the age of 16 Jimmy signed a proffesional football contract with Manchester Utd.
From then onwards he spent time playing for Manchester Utd reserves, he then spent a few months playing in Antwerp until returning to Manchester Utd and continuing to play for the reserves and making a few appearances for Manchester Utd 1st Team.
Jimmy was then put on loan to Swindow Town FC, of which he became a very poular player with the fans, he scored a few goals making a good name for himself.
Jimmy was also capped for England under 21's during his career.
After playing reserve football with Manchester Utd it was decided he would be put on a seasons loan with Watford FC so that he could play first team football.
Unfortunatly for Jimmy, he was injured for the opening game of last season meaning he would not be making his debut for Watford that game.
In the early hours of the morning on the day of the opening game for the 2003/2004 season, Jimmy was traveling down to Watford to meet up with the other players before the game. Sadly Jimmy never made his destination and was tragicly killed in a road accident on his way to Watford.
Jimmy, a very popular and well loved person always said that eventually he wanted to try and set up a youth training scheme for all of the young children in his home town of Redditch.
As a result of this it has been decided a memorial/tribute is going to be set up in Jimmy Davis' name and all proceeds are going to be put towards a youth training scheme within Redditch.
To open this memorial for Jimmy, a football match has been organised:
This football match is being played in Redditch at Redditch Utd's ground, www.redditchutd.com
REDDITCH UTD V SWINDON TOWN FC
Kick Off at 3:00PM Saturday July 17th
Adult Ticket: £5:00
Child Ticket: £2:00/£3:00
If you live local or within the Mildlands or even further a field, please come along, enjoy the day, show your support and help make a contribution.
Thank You and Regards
Marc.
