I saw this earlier,

It will divide opinion,

H&S will be all over it like a rash, as will the HR Brigade,

Mind you they look like the screw in, so they could be removed easily.

On the other hand, how would you feel if you were to find someone sleeping in your porch every morning?

Difficult one

That would not stop anyone a couple of sheets of cardboard or wood over the top,and you down for the night.

It looks harsh to homeless people as well as to the *** break takers with stiletto heels on. You just need to tumble over one spike and the other one will be up your bum.

As a trouble shooter, even if these spikes aren't screwed in, they can be filed down with a metal file. If a homeless person files these spikes, he'll get caught on a CCTV, and thus get a free accommodation in jail for a bit, anyway. Win win for the homeless, I think. Fagging ladies with pencil heels on will be the losers with this.

Agree, it's a tricky one.
It seems extreme but as you say who wants to find cardboard city in their entrance each morning.

Yes, that's a good idea! Cardboard won't be so good, but a homeless person can buy a piece of MDF from Homebase, and carry it around with him for venues like that. Pencil heel ladies can also do the same.

I hope the poor sods for whom those spikes are an apparent deterrent, find somewhere else to sleep and use that alcove solely as their toilet.

So what happens if a kid is playing outside around the doorway and falls over onto them ?

The homeless bit is a tricky one, you don't want to kick them out from somewhere that's sheltered for the night, on the other hand its not a nice sight to wake upto.

What?

So are homeowners expected to give shelter to the homeless now are they.

Would you? No, thought not.

I think we're more interested in what such an uncompromising physical deterrent/barrier actually says about modern Britain, after all to not have them is not be expected to give shelter as you are trying to imply.

It's like shooting fish in a barrel on here these days!

P.S. The alternative answer is to ask whether London's average property owner would do anything to actually help the homeless.? No, thought not. They'd rather spend money on 'spikes'

I doubt a property is able to do much. A property owner on the other hand .

Oh sorry, I forgot that this is the selfish 'considerably richer than thou' section of SN! Forget I asked.

In fact f**k helping them, they should just be given a good kicking as you set off to work in the morning.

There's nothing like a bit of recreational homeless bashing to set you up for the day as after all they're just a nuisance and a drain on society!

People you step over on your way to that posh restaurant or the theatre!

I think the spikes are a benifit to the homeless , you loose body heat through the ground quicker than the air , so a board over the top and they'll be sweet.

Unless you allow homeless people to reside in your house then you aren't helping the problem at all.

*Waits for "I chuck a few quid in a tin every so often"....

My memory is not what it used to be. Could somebody remind me which sner was recently looking for advice on how to evade UK tax? The tax that to some extent at least is used for the greater good ie provide free schooling and healthcare for those who can't afford to pay privately for it?

Tax receipts that might provide good schooling, mental health services etc that might prevent somebody from ending up sleeping rough in the first place?

His name is at the tip of my tongue....epitome of hypocrisy indeed.

Sigh! The point I am making is that you have no idea how I would answer the question yet you (and Chip) decided what my answer would be so you could then post the usual oneupmanship style of rhetoric (all too prevalent on this site these days).

Well next time wait for the answer before you start! Is that really too hard for you to understand?
