Default Tigers in the house

Just read this on the BBC, looking forward to the programme :-)

The real tigers who came to tea

How anyone can shoot these creatures is beyond me, makes my blood boil!

I've got this programmed in to watch. Tigers are my favourite wild creatures.
My closest encounter.

And no it wasn't stuffed!

You would have been if it had been hungry.

Lovely creatures, but I still prefer a snow leopard. https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=e...71.Z6_BWPW31WQ

Not much left of the postman...

Beautiful animals, so sad that mankind has hunted them to near extinction.

Agreed, tigers are magnificent creatures but I would always be fearful that they'd attack in an instant.
South lakes zoo in the Lake District have a good tiger enclosure, feeding time is an amazing sight.

Thanks guys.
The chance of a lifetime (perhaps) was offered me to sit with a Tiger, so I jumped in with both feet. The handler told me several times in no uncertain terms 'Don't touch the Tiger. You must not touch the Tiger'
It's the kind of thing you don't need to be told more than once.
And when the camera was set up he calmly walked over and put my hand on its back.
And it was softly growling

A properly awesome, beautiful and fantastic beast.

I was surprised to see how soon he took those cubs away from the mother.

I'm not a fan of domestic cats, it's a kin to keeping a bird in a cage to me.

I love big cats though, my closest encounter was about 10 metres in Ranthambore, we were on the back of an elephant in a dried out river bed and 3 cubs sat on the bank waiting for mum to come back, so pretty much eye to eye, well I say cubs but they were almost ready to leave mum so were a very decent size, also saw their father from about 25/30 metres away but we had to get the the **** outa there as he's known for charging, we weren't in a good position and he didn't look happy to see us.

Ones in a zoo don't look anything like the ones in the wild, the sheen and colour of their coats is amazing in the wild but they look very dull in a zoo, their camouflage is amazing too, it took me a good while to see them from 10 metres and it was another couple of minutes before I even realised there were three of them.

I don't know. I mean, if I encounter one that is about to attack me, then I'll do anything to be saved from him. I Never have a gun on me (I don't even have one, actually), but I'll swing around my handbag something chronic to shoo him away. On the second thought, I'll drop my handbag and leg it before his big paw gets me to rip me apart. Very scary thought.

No, honestly, humans that kill animals for their greed and pleasure need to be punished and stopped. Big cats are amazing. In fact, all cats are amazing. My micro-cats look like these big cat cubs, anyway.

Thought so, unfortunately the tigers are usually drugged hence their placid persona. This is usually administered in a drink before the pics are taken. So they say anyway.

Yes I've heard all that many times before, and I've no doubt it does happen.
This animal was not drugged, maltreated, or disrespected by its keepers in any way.
This tiger and the other four it was housed with were all lively and in superb condition.

Now you're asking.
It was a few years ago (2007 I think) and I haven't been back.
I have just done a quick google and this place looks like it might be the one.
http://www.samuiaquariumandtigerzoo....page_Portfolio
It has a very similar set up and there can't be too many places like that on such a small island, but I have to say I don't recall the aquarium or sea lions.
Where are you staying?

This place was in Chiang Mai, Thailand, we was there last feb. They only allow a few people at a time to go into the enclosures. This was a "medium" size one, the "large" ones were, well, large! Lol.

Gets the heart rate going a little bit when they start wondering about tho, lol

I hear that these tame adult big kitties live on the British cat food. You know, the day cat biscuits. I also hear that these big kitties smoke pot with the Buddhist monks in the Tiger Temples all day long hence all chilled and mellow. I can believe both things, actually.
