Some years ago they used to have a very poor air safety record and I wouldn't have touched them with a barge pole. However I can't remember one crashing recently![Lol1](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/lol1.gif)
They've got some very good deals on business class seats, about half the price of the BA, VA, Emirates etc. The latter are unaffordable for where and when I want to go.
I know the food, wine, service etc won't be as good as the above but it's the flat bed and sleep I really crave for on long haul.
Anybody flown with them recently?

Turkish airline was cheapest price for us to SA, but when we actually came to book they only seemed have one seat here one seat there or only half the trip, they say they're the best in Turkey.....

Only time I got worried on an aircraft was on Turkish Airlines. We were coming into land at Bodrum, gear down, final approach, probably 3-400 ft up, when all of a sudden the engines went to full power, and I mean, FULL POWER and we headed back up pretty damn pronto. After we remained airborne for a minute I started to calm down, the pilot comes on to say he got an emergency go-around off the tower, some plane had got lost and had taxied back onto the runway we were about to land on!
Flight was good value though....

Hey at least you'll get a seat.
In the mid nineties the girlfriend got flight with air afrique , I believe into Dakar
There was standing room only for some passengers and a proportion were carrying chickens
Apparently they've ceased trading

I got sacked after I had to do some very severe emergency braking on landing.
I said to the co-pilot 'Holy **** that was a f**king short runway!'
He replies 'Yes I know. But look how wide it is.'

Well drugs make it more tolerable, make economy less worse if you like. I've only flown business once and it was pretty good even though the seats didn't go completely flat. I've got used to never expecting to feel good after a long flight.
