Default Vehicle trackers recommendations

Hi

It's been some years since I've had one fitted. Any idea which is the cheapest one that is recognised by insurance companies? Any recommendations for nationwide installers?

Thanks

Gps with live mapping. He is happy with it. Can check his vehicle on his phone and will get notified if it moves

Does the difference in insurance cost between having one fitted and not fitted cover the annual subs ?
If not I would be having serious thoughts about having insurance for the insurance company benefit.

Insurance company said they would not cover for theft unless there was a tracker fitted, so I don't have a choice in the matter.

Fair point,
personally never had that issue, always been able to ring around and find cover without one.
I dont think I would want a car back that has been stolen

It's a c63 amg andi.

It's not brand new and doesn't have a tracker so that means the previous owner got insured without one. Unless of course it was a demo car....

I could ring around other insurance companies but I switched over to LV a couple of years ago because they were the cheapest by some margin.

When I first got my WRX Wagon (94 Japanese Import) I didn't need to get a tracker, however, when changing insurance companies they had started requiring them, so I didn't have any choice.

I cannot recall, apart from actually giving me insurance, what difference it made to the policy, as it's been over 10 years, and the grey matter isn't what it used to be

I was of the same mindset of not really wanting one as I'd not want a recovered car back, because if it's not written off, who knows what kind of beating it's taken, which would put you on the hook for the repairs.

I've just had some quotes for insurance on the new M3 - no tracker has been requested on the on-line quotes and the cheapest comes in at £380 ish!

Sure it can't be right, either that or I am officially an old giffer (my birthday tomorrow...)

Anyway, looked at the BMW Trackstar - £799 fitted and £189 per year subs

I've got the Porsche VTS on my car, had to have it activated for the first insurance co I used but for the last two years haven't had to have it activated.
(And it was a pain in the **** having to carry the fob with me - kept forgetting it)

Seconded. They beat the best quote I'd received by nearly £300.
