Ryanair
I have just booked a holiday to Spain in a couple of weeks time and the airline is Ryanair, I have tried to check in online now and it won't let me unless I pay for seats and if I decide to wait I can't get my return seats checked in until the day I fly
It would be a right hassle if there turned out to be a problem printing the boarding passes on the day so I have just paid to reserve seats. £42 for to have 3 fecking seats.

That's to pick a seat and is on top of what I have paid for flights. If it wasn't for them having big fines if you don't print your own boarding pass I would never of considered reserving a seat as I have never done it before as there is no need.
Oh and it was £60 per case for a fecking 15kg limit. That's a joke as well.

Where you flying to?
For normal places like Alicante, Murcia....
With Ryanair you can check-in on-line 15days before flying, so if your return trip is 2 weeks you can usually get both boarding cards just before you leave, if it's only a week, well you do the math.
Seats are allocated when you print the boarding card, if there is 2 or 3 going the chances are you will be ok and get seats together.
I really haven't ever had any issues on either the old or new system. However they rely on people's panic to book seats and pay for priority boarding (which is pointless now)

I fly to Girona on the 15th July and if I wait for the free seats to check in I can't check in till the 8th July but then it still won't let me check in for my return flights for free unless I wait till the 15th of July which is the day I fly so therefor I can't check in online at all till the day I fly unless I purchase seats

Are you sure it does not let you check in, or are you missing to put a tick or a choice in the dropdown?
I use Ryanair at least 4 times a year and with the new system never had something like that.
This new system allegedly makes the boarding process faster due to allocated seats instead of people randomly just occupying seats and not being able to choose. It is not really so in practice though, people just do not look at the fact that they have allocated seats, sit next to each other and then there is a mess.
I would not count on the fact, that all 3 of you will be sitting together...
There is a point, where you can choose a seat, but then scroll down and you can just skip that step and continue to the check in.
On my last flight I even got a priority boarding in random, never knew and never checked, was just advised at a point, when I was queuing for an hour...
regarding baggage, that does not sound right, I paid something like 20GBP for a 15kg bag.
http://www.ryanair.com/lv/terms-and-...s-tableoffees/
At the bottom of the page, even though it says from, it is only on very selected routes to canary islands and greece.
My only real complaint against Ryanair nowadays is that they match EUR to GBP 1:1, so, if you need be printing something, or pay a fee, you better be outside of the UK, otherwise you may end up paying 60GBP instead of 60EUR, which would be something like 47GBP.

You can just rock up with the boarding pass on your phone. This worked for me at Luton, might not work for you.

So if you check in later, ie Once your there, you won't get the seats you want
Is this the issue?
My last but one Ryan air we parked up ( off the airport ) 15 minutes before take off..
We still got on, I wouldn't recommend trying this though

Its not the seats I care about its the boarding passes, if you don't print your own they charge £70 for each boarding pass at the airport.
If I can't complete the online check in till the day I fly I can't get all the boarding passes printed off till then and it just give you more hassle if your printer breaks or has a problem.

I don't see the problem, either read the booking information clearly and do as instructed, or use another airline, it's not hard
PS; As has been stated several times on this thread already, you don't actually have to print your boarding pass, you can load it onto your phone and present that, couldn't be easier

on top of that, a lot of actual airlines do not allow you to actually check in online 24 hours before the flight. I flew from Brussels to Stockholm with SAS in February and they allowed me to check in online only 24 hours before.
Regarding your rant about you knowing what you paid etc. - i provided you with a link to the pricing, which is their approved pricing guide for 2014 with exceptions. since your destination is not in their **"from" list, you clearly got ripped off for your baggage and it is your own fault you did not contest the price.
Ryanair has actually become more open, they allow now for two bags on board, instead of just one and a jacket. I have seen girls with huge primark shopping bags bigger than their hand luggage allowed on the plane.

well if you look at your price list it clearly states €35 per flight peak times for 15kg so thats €70 for both ways. Saying you pay €20 has nothing to do with my flight as it changes as per destination and time and your figure would only be per flight so if you did a return it would naturaĺly double.
i have no problem checking in on tbe day but not when im taxed heavily if I dont print passes out as im taking my family so im not going to take a hit for no boarding passes.

You pay your money you take your choice, obviously you need to understand what you're getting before committing - a bit like shopping a aldi. Etc
If you time it right to avoid taxes you can get to other side of Europe cheaper than a bus trip to dorset
I really don't understand the whingers
