Look on TripAdvisor?

For that sort of thing would usually stay in whatever Travel Tavern is cheapest.

There are a few decent villages in the Guildford area so you might get better value in a b&b there rather than central Guildford. But you will find clubs etc in Guildford but there are some rough spots. atb, dl

PS. 3rd wealthiest town in UK

Acacia Hotel on Woodbridge Road is about 50 per night, beds are a bit uncomfortable though. I prefer staying at the Mandolay http://www.guildford.com/, not the ritz but it's near centre of town and has a nice bar that's between 80-130 p/n. Or the Radisson at 180 p/n. There are plenty others of course, as mentioned just Trip Advisor it.

yeah I know, that price is crazy considering!

I don't normally stay at the Radisson as I'm usually just getting a room for the night after a load of drinks with the sales guys in Guildford and I just need anywhere to pass out in. a few of us crash out in a room and it turns out cheaper than a taxi
