Default PAYG sim only - low user sim needed

I could do with a low user PAYG sim that doesn't need topping up every month regard;ess if you've used it or not.

Basically, I need a PAYG sim for a vehicle tracker that just send text messages.

Anyone know of a sim that I can stick a tenner on and forget about it?

Thinking giffgaff but not sure how long their credit last?

Giffgaff credit doesn't expire, you just need to use the sim once every 6 months so they do not cut your sim off.

Airtime providers are missing out on a low cost contracted text only sim for these type of applications. Home security diallers are growing in population too and would benefit from a text only contract. That said, my dialler texts my phone every month as a test to keep the sim active and I just top it up as and when, which isn't often as I tend to call the dialler rather than text it, which is free.

I doubt you can use 3 in your tracker as it is possibly only a 2G device. You'll need to check that.

I'm guessing you really need to use a sim that'll work from wherever your car is. That could be difficult in some areas with some providers having black spots.

Good shout. Free sim + £10 top up, so £10 total and it doesn't expire. Perfect for the tracker kits! Might have a look myself.

The Three 321 PAYG is by far the cheapest and its a good service. No others come close

Just checked the Three 321 Terms & conditions and you do have to use the sim card for a call, text or data usage at least once every 6 months or it will be shut off.

Still not a bad deal. I'll certainly be getting one and a tracker to go with it!

Any good recommendations on sim card trackers? I'm looking at a few on fleabay now.

I think Tesco PAYG doesn't run out of credit unless you use it. I hope so, anyway. My daughter has a redundant one as a spare, which I just use like my second alarm clock as a back up to my iPhone alarm; just in case. I had to buy it and feed it a tenner around Christmas time because the original owner was losing her main mobile in parties. It was only used once with £9:70p remaining on it. I hope it has still got that intact. I don't want my money going to waste.

You need to make sure that the network/SIM covers the area that your vehicle will be in, before you even start worrying about the cost!!
