I know why...Who wouldn't want to take the opportunity to brag about something, especially in the 'i'm better than you type of posts'.
Just as long as they use his diamond encrusted pen to sign the contract ;-)

How long have you been diagnosed with your mental problem? Because you've got it BAD.
Your only "contributions" are to have a go at me. HOW bad must your life be?
Sorry to hear about it; maybe a little counselling might help?

Pretty much most of the time you read about a person or product of any sort in the media, a PR person will have written the story then "sold it in" to the media.
We tend to do B2B PR so it's usually companies promoting themselves to other businesses but we do consumer stuff too; aiming at the wider public.
You have clients, you tease out stories (some are obvious, some need a little pushing; doing a survey is often a PR trick to "make" news!) and then target the right media; no point trying to get a National paper to cover a small local business win. But the Nationals are usually the ultimate target.
But there's loads of other comms stuff we do; in fact the traditional stuff isn't what we do much. Community relations is basically getting the public on side with big projects; we've just succeeded in a big one near Bristol.
There's case study writing, web copy (I wrote all of one Oxford Uni colleges websites; an epic project!), internal comms (big clients often have no idea what their own people are doing), media training (so people don't ***** up interviews), crisis management (what to do if something goes VERY wrong and the media contact them) and more.
Bored yet?
I would be!!

Thanks, quite interesting actually as it's the sort of field of work I know virtually nothing about.
So lets say there was going to be a big construction project, ie a block of flats, office building etc and all the locals were opposed to it because it would change the character of the area.
How would you use your PR skills to try and win the locals over?

On similar subject but obviously higher profile , Caroline wyatt 10 minute rundown interview etc piece during the main news ( 25 mins total ) work being done by British army in Afghanistan.
Being slightly dense I didn't realize it was that length purely to keep the public onside
In what was clearly an almost totally pointless escapade

If it's going to happen anyway and objections aren't a big concern, it's probably not useful. Where local opinion is critical to planning decisions, you pull out the big guns. Companies like N4tional Gr1d use it a hell of a lot!!
Dpb; yep, the Forces PR machine is a big outfit!

Isn't Matteeboy the bloke who blew a fortune on a M135i, crashed it and wrote it off, and can no longer afford to pay his mortgage because the finance repayments are too expensive?
