Default first M.O.T
just wanted to double check... the wifes car is due its first mot this year.. 2011 plate.. am I right in thinking the first mot is due 3 years after the cars first registered date? (2nd Aug 2011)

Correct, 3 years from first registration although it may expire at midnight on the day before just like an mot

and remember to take the v5 with you theres a code on it that they need on the first mot
