Will shorten the story, its about my mum and aunt inheriting a small farm in Southern Poland(originally their parents holding) after their sister died, and then brother in law. There were 2 houses in the estate, the original farmhouse with buildings and one they built latter. All in all about 5 hectares of land. Somehow on my uncles side of the family some a**holes which are distant family through some stupid laws in Poland gave them a right to 60% of the estate. So the courts would not do anything, so my mum and aunt tried to negotiate with these t**ts to come to a settlement anyway. These people are the most awkward idiots I ever encountered. Anyway after 6 years and costs, finally went to court to settle, but with the huge parody of bribes and blackmail, and useless solicitors(notary's) it got settled with cost to health and pocket. The judges and court are useless too!!! I wonder if they were treated worse as they both don't live in Poland, so all this EU equality crap goes out the window with justice too.

It makes me think how the hell that country functions, how do businesses operate in such a lawless country. The current government there are just as corrupt and useless. How come the EU don't interfere in there systems as they all the time do in ours?
You hear complaints of our justice system and laws, but believe me what is out there is just incomprehensible.
Shame as otherwise it seems a nice place to visit.

Plenty of similair stories in Pakistan too. Brit Paks usually find out when a 'relative' lays claim to land.

4.5 Kanal is around 24 000 sq. ft. A lot of land, if it's being farmed it should give a healthy yield. If it's real estate then you'll get a few plots on it.
Prime building plots can go for anywhere from 10 to 25 lakhs RS per kanal. Arable land about half that. Those figures are quite fickle as values will fluctuate depending on demand, quality of land and how quickly you want to sell.

How can you expect the EU to address Poland's legal system when Spain, Italy and Greece are just as corrupt.

The Valencian government have made our urbanisation of 300 odd houses illegal - when it was once legal...and has been legal since the 1970's. Why...no proper roads...but the roads WERE PAID FOR! The local council already had the money to build them in addition to EU grant (infrastructure improvement), and what happened to it? It disappeared along with the last Mayor!


Local shysters steal the water (bypass the meters), or don't pay (and never get cut off). Making the rest of the residents culpable for the water bills by the water company to cover the shortfall (the urbanisation pays the water company as a whole community based on water usage at the main incoming meter; not individual meters). There is a public list of those who have and haven't paid and by how much - yet nobody does anything. The same goes for the community charges (which covers refuse and infrastructure repairs)...there is a core of resident socialists who believe its their god given right that the "rich" should pay for them to live, use the roads, have free water, rubbish collections, and build what they like without permission -although a bit moot now everything is technically illegal, but at least the once legal properties were built to some sort of standard, not unsafe DIY codged concrete shacks and portacabins: Give me a bulldozer...I'll sort them all out in a weekend.
