I was in a deep slumber with the telly on. Obviously this was on the news, but my mind was processing as a dream. Only just woken up and realised the sad news for real. Shocked.
One of kind. He cracked me up when he used to go on one of his trademark 200mph comedic monologues.

Sad news. Fond childhood memories laughing at Mork and Mindy through to great films such as Good Morning Vietnam and Mrs Doubtfire and others. He was simply brilliant as an actor and comedian.
Hodgy the coverage is because he was that good and that liked by so many whether you got him or not.

Re the wall to wall coverage, it's par for the course nowadays. The systematic drama of headlines and grieving.
All said he was a funny guy who was very talented and entertained me over many years. Rip.

He was quite an enigmatic guy. I've been watching his stuff since the Mork and Mindy days. He always had an air of anarchy about him, sometimes he'd be hyper and then mellow and subdued. A troubled mind.

and any suicide is a tragedy for all concerned
I just don't find that hyper then subdued - "Zany" type personality that attractive - partly because of the inevitable "dark side" that comes with it

I never really 'got' his comedy, either, but thought him excellent in Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets' Society and particularly in One Hour Photo. A talent lost.
