I haven't been, but heard good stuff about it. York is a lovely place, anyway.
Give the hotel a ring to find out what they can do for a man in the Spa. Also, ask your missus if she wouldn't mind another woman giving you a massage on the table next to you, or Valentines break may turn into a horror story for you.

I work for one of the big brand Spa's and have spent the week going between them all on training. Having stayed in 3 off them as a guy I wouldn't say no to doing a full day chilling and relaxing.
They do a good range of treatments for both men and women, just depends on your budget

lol, thanks. She'd be fine with it, not sure how I would cope watching her getting a rub down from a woman though

Oh, right! To be honest, I didn't know the prices and stuff. I won't pay £400 for a night, unless absolutely necessary.
How about Soughton Hall Hotel down the road? Ok, it doesn't have a spa, but you can go to Deeside Leisure Centre for Spa experiences. That's what you do on the day, then stay the night at Soughton Hall, wine and dine there, and do one after the breakfast in the morning. You could do that, if you like.
I'll get put the link up in a mo.

Here we are.

Such beautiful rooms.
The spa to go with is this one:
http://www.afonspa.co.uk/
Not very far from the hotel. May me about 9 miles, if that.
I've been to that spa a few times. It's quite good. You can stay on in the hot tub and stream rooms while your missus gets her massage done. That's if you don't want to get massaged. Some guys don't.

Look on TravelZoo as they are constantly doing weekend break deals with meals added , even if you don't find anything they have on their site it may still give you ideas? I personally would just do the hotel and a nice meal with maybe some clubbing after that as how can booking a spa be romantic?
A spa break is more something you give as a present.

I think clubbing is a no-no for a romantic getaway, because there're so many distractions in the club.
Spa may be good because it takes the tension out of your body, and energises you to have a good hanky panky that you haven't had for months; due to "same sh7t, different day" pattern. Also, it makes your partner feel worth it because you've pampered them, and that's why they may be nice to you while in bed as opposed to kicking you out.

I've been there once (it may have even been on your recommendation iirc) and really liked it. Nice food.

I know someone who bought his wife some vouchers for Spar, for some occasion. He thought she meant shopping vouchers for Spar, because he didn't know what Spa was, and both words sounded the same to him. Needless to cast any light on the aftermath, you can imagine what he must have been through.

Log cabin for the weekend bud...centre parcs etc?
A lad I know owns a load of them in Lincoln (Thorpe park lodges) , nice modern , hot tubs etc
He offered me and the missis one for the weekend but tbh I'd rather leave her at home

I'm sorta sure she'd say feeling is mutual. I bet she'd go away without having you dangling around her throat.

I can thoroughly recommend Cabin Coch (yes I know!) nr Snowdonia! Proper little getaway that! It's very basic but it is all the better for it! £80 a night and some very fresh air in those parts. Failing that, Blue Bicycle in York is very good and the restaurant was tops when we went. The Golden Fleece was also a nice stay in York.

If you're willing to travel, then this is a good shout.
She'll love it there
