Convertibles and car washes
May have been answered 1000's times already on here but can hard-top convertibles be taken through a car wash? For all you wannabe clowns out there I am meaning with the roof up.

I once took a Peugeot 307cc hard top through a car wash. It wasn't nice. I think the roller whacking the roof caused the car windows to drop about an inch hence I got a bit wet. I drove off mid-cycle to stop it getting any worse.
I was wondering if the roller hitting the car roof made the car think I was about to drop the roof down and so dropped the windows an inch in preparation.

A peugeot 1007 has a warning sticker on the sunvisor....saying to lock the doors when using a car wash. For those that don't know a 1007 has electrically operated sliding doors I wonder which poor sod found that out before they started attaching warning stickers
And point to note Citroen C3 Plurial is NOT car wash friendly....its not even rain proof!!!
Hard tops are normally ok as long as the seals are in good condition and its locked down properly...if the linkage is worn/not locking correctly and the seals are covered in slime/gunk/debris then the roof will leak....but it'll rain in when hand washing too. So if teh windows steam up regulalr, likely its leaking (or the heater is set on screen only, so the carpets never dry out).
Yes, I've repaired a few Merc SLs with corroded CAN-bus connectors....caused by a leaky roof, causes rather interesting electrical randomness - it amazing how much water can be held in the sponge/foam insulation under the carpet.
