A few of are going early May, can anyone recommend things to do, pubs to go to, hotels and things like that? I've heard it's really expensive, as none of us have been before we could do with a few recommendations.

I used to live there, yes its expensive. The pound is quite strong against the euro right now, but a pint is still gonna set you back 5 euros in the town center.

Places to go, TempleBar obviously... My fav was O'Riellys off Tara Street.

Last time we went (which was a fair time ago) we stayed here;

http://www.paramounthotel.ie/index.html

It was pretty good and fine and handy for temple bar - the main drinking area - but this hotel is on one edge of temple bar - I'd say it's probably the ideal location.

The Morgan in temple bar is a cool place to stay.

If you get drunk enough go to Copper Face Jacks. If I wasn't married I could have a lot of fun in there.....

There's loads of good nightlife in Dublin but TBH it all merges into one.

Get one of the tour buses round the city during the day, the comperes know the decent pubs and clubs, plus you see lots of stuff to do and see, it's on/off anywhere you like, one ticket all day.

Kilmainham gaol is worth a look, so is the artwork around St Stephens Green, the Post Office where the uprising started is on O'Connell Street.

I've been three times now, loved the place, the people are amazing, the pubs are ace and the food is pretty decent if you eat sensibly.

Tell me about it, it's because I originally told them £19.98 each, but that's a really early flight back(not a chance after a night out)

Might be 9 of us going now, looking for a large apartment/house.

OP - Maybe out of your pals price range

There are some great soup kitchens - send them there

but these restaurants are good - there's a few of them dotted around the UK too

It certainly is expensive. I've spent a fair bit of time up there and in Irl in general.

Coppers's is certainly one of the busiest clubs, got a hotel attached to it too! quite a young crowd there now though.

whatever you do don't go to a pub named 'the George' there's an abundance of sausage (unless your into that). My Irish colleagues recommenced it to us Brits when we first got there, b******s

I'll avoid that one then cheers

We've still not found anywhere to stay yet, a hostel might have to do.

Ha ha we went there once. There was a drag queen on the stage and I thought 'that's odd' then I went into the toilets and saw a guy washing his hands after having a **** which confirmed to me 'this is a gay club!'

I was in Dublin last year and stayed in the Temple Bar Hotel which was brilliant and cudnt have been any closer to the Temple Bar area. There is a mutli story carpark directly accross road also if you have a car with you.

The Hard Rock cafe is nice for food and again close by to everything and beside the hotel.

Guinness Factory is well worth a visit too

But as others have said, be warned as Dublin is shocking expensive for everything, make sure and take plenty of money with you lol!!

Got back on Monday afternoon, wasn't too expensive but what a ****hole. Certainly not what I expected, or maybe we didn't walk far enough. The amount of smackheads asking for money was ridiculous, it got a bit feisty a few times, I'm glad there was a few of us, beggers everywhere and lots sleeping rough(even during the day). My wife wants me to take her there but I'm not so sure. The Irish were really friendly, which made the trip a bit better.

Its been 18 years since I was in Dublin but a pint of cider was about £3.60 then so it will be good fun to see what it is now Only plus side is the euro is doing better so your spend will be cheaper

We were paying an average price of about €5 for a pint of Guinness, not bad. Cider was a bit more.
